Well... It's not too late to do what perhaps should have been done originally, and message all board owners or admins (admins may be better, given the number of transferred boards where the EzOp appears to be AWOL) laying...

Troll was probably the wrong word choice. Trolls like to be visible, therefore they'll cause their havoc by posting.

Because our board likes lurkers, we're paying for guests to be ad-free. Lurkers are the ones who end up promoting the site in the media, so we want to put our best foot forward for them. We definitely prefer lurkers over members who don't put a lot of thought into their posts.

Maybe this would be a bit easier if the Ad Settings link would show up...

Well - I could see that a board with a lot of lurkers might run up page views, I'm slightly unconvinced that a troll would or could make a significant difference.

I believe a troll can set a thread to refresh automatically and drive views way up in an hour. At ezboard, we once had this happen. There was evidence that a mischievous member did it to harass one of the women. He had kind of a crush on her.

yes, it's certainly something that can be changed. I think it's necessary for the admins to get a pm or email notification that the status of the board has changed, and that could also give some pointers to the newly aquired settings. I am asking for that to be put in (actually, as far as I am aware, the specs outlined that it would happen).

It's important to be clear and communicate these things to people.

As of now, going into March 5th, LL has 2,981 ad-free views left. Gold would have likely lasted a bit longer, but the board had a major usage spike today with Brett Favre's retirement.

I don't think I'm understanding this correctly.

I think the part you're missing is that the 50,000 threshold has to do with total page views. However, you only pay for pages which would otherwise serve ads. If you sit at just over 50,000 total page views, you're probably going to end up paying for 25,000-30,000 views.

As an example, on January 29, I dropped in $6 for a month...

yep, right now you can buy it once if those are your only requirement and you're set

But when it ends - you get ads back.

Plus who is to say that we don't disable the extra bits at some point? ie - you still have them, but they are not accessible. You can't choose them in your drop down menu.
