FYI, they work if you replace the double quotes required with single quotes and the post does go through correctly. It has been like that for a while because I used to put Comic Sans MS in manually.

I was possibly going to add something similar to your observation after I had a chance to test, but since you mention it, I'll guess.

I always have trouble with Lucida Sans Unicode, even if I put the html on and type the code in, it doesn't seem to work.

Comic Sans isn't appearing in message board posts because the editor names it incorrectly.

This is what the editor produces:

TEXT

It needs to be named Comic Sans MS.

Also, if you try to rename it manually, the editor changes it back during the posting process.
