bbs editor not working for "Quote"

Posts: 59 11-May-08 4:22 PM	Tags : fixpending One of my members just informed me there's a problem with the "quote" function. His own words: I found today when I click on the "Quote" option on a post, I'm no longer thrown into an editor populated with bbcodes, as it used to be, but rather one populated with fairly complex HTML (it's just the bbcode editor with the HTML "button" forced on, and can't be turned off.) I've been using cut-paste and inserting my own bracketed bbcode for the quote, but I'm positive this used to work. I purged my cache, deleted my yuku cookies, logged out and logged in to yuku, changed my editor preference to WYSIWG, which worked, and then back to bbcode. But while I correctly get the bbcode editor for "Reply", for "Quote" I still get the funky editor with HTML locked on and non-removable. I also noticed that when I inserted the bbcode for quote, the intro tag was "User X said:" in a larger font, rather than "User x wrote:", which used to be the default. If I use the crazy locked-on HTML editor, the tag appears correct as "User X wrote:. Very weird. He's posted a screenshot of what he sees when he goes to use 'quote' But when I use it, it's working fine. He's logged in using both firefox and IE and still has the same problem, not just in the forum he's reported it in, but in others as well. Posts: 9 12-May-08 9:52 AM	I don't get the problem above, but i do have a question. I put quotes around a block of text, and I quoted somebody in a reply. I tried to remove the quotes a few minutes later ( as I had two sets of quotes there) I can't figure out how to do it. For either. the quoted reply or the quotes I added from the function box(?) above the writing box. I checked the bbcode help but while it shows how to add quotes, it doesn't say how to delete them. I used to just delete the html code on ezboard ( and on vbulletin boards), but I don't see the html here, nor do I see a delete quote function. IN my case I simply just rewrote the whole post, using reply and copy and paste, not quoting the person, and put in the quotes where I wanted them. But that's a pain to do just to remove quotes. Is there a way to undo quotes? Merri

ADMINISTRATOR Posts: 9023 12-May-08 3:17 PM pink goddess	That isn't html view, it's just that the quote button inserts html. You can still add bbcodes at the same time. Chris can look into making it sense which editor you're using and add the more appropriate code to lessen confusion however. To delete a quote in any edit box, just select it and press delete.

I think what my member meant was that previously when he 'quoted' using the bbccode editor, HTML didn't come up like that. Also, he mentioned a change with "when I inserted the bbcode for quote, the intro tag was 'User X said:' in a larger font, rather than 'User x wrote:', which used to be the default."

Posts: 9 13-May-08 8:46 AM	To delete a quote in any edit box, just select it and press delete. But that's the part I don't understand, what it is I select to delete the quote marks. Like how do I select "the box" in this edit box? I can select the words inside the box, but not the box. I don't want to delete the words, just the box around them. ..... Oh, I think I got it now. You select the words in the box and cut them. Then you press delete to get rid of the box. Then you paste your words back again. Right? Thanks for the help. Merri

I don't know if it was like that before or not, but it can be fixed. said/wrote? Do you specifically prefer wrote?
