Line Breaks Suddenly Appearing |
Lead | ||
|
For some reason, when I hit the enter key while making a post my board is adding the HTML tag for a line break. This just started happening this morning.

did you switch browers at all? Because of differences between the browsers, Firefox does br tags and IE does p tags.

I posted this on another forum, but I'm not having this most annoying issue myself.
......and no I didn't switch back to FF to get it. When using IE and bbcode, the following keeping pilling up ever time I PREVIEW the post: < br /> (without the spaces) I find I have to go delete them or put up with huge paragraphs showing up where I don't what them. This happens on IE. http://mycountryhome.yuku.com/ Thanks, Snowy |

Alison -
I am not switching browsers, and I am getting br tags when I hit preview. Also, this was not happening when my board was first migrated from ezboard. It just started this past Sunday. |

Thanks for the report, this is a side effect of the fix put in place for the losing formatting bug. Chris is feverishly working on it.

Not sure if this will be helpful but I have noticed that when I have a line break that looks like a linebreak (a singel space left between lines) when the post
is viewed in IE6 that the same post viewed in IE7 will make those breaks look like 2 spaces instead. But back in IE6 they will again look like a single space.
This is not in the preview or edit .. this is just viewing the post. Just wondered if this means you'll need to look at how IE7 reacts to your fixes as well. |

We are having the same problem on our board. When previewing a post made in the bbcode format, the html code for line
breaks is mysteriously inserting itself within my bbcoded post.
As others have said, I have to manually delete the <,br,> to get the spacing/line breaks back to what they should be. This problem has just appeared within the last few days, and occurs when using either firefox or IE. Any update on a timeline for this bug fix would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Hi -
Since this thread kind of floated back a few pages - without any response regarding an update or any sort of timeline for a fix for this bug - I thought I'd give it a bump. The bug is still annoyingly present on our board, and any update for a timeline for this bug to be fixed would be appreciated. Thanks. |

It is happening on a board I moderate on too.
We are having the same problem on our board. When previewing a post made in the bbcode format, the html code for line breaks is mysteriously inserting itself within my bbcoded post. As others have said, I have to manually delete the <,br,> to get the spacing/line breaks back to what they should be. Shadowlands Message board When is this going to be fixed? It is getting really bad and every time I edit or change a post I have to delete the many, many tags for breaks...'<'br'>' |

Hi,
Sorry to say I don't have an update on this yet. With the weekend being here, there most likely won't be an update until at least next week. Hang in there. The developers are aware of the problem and they are working on a fix. |
