There's a strange light tonight |

After I returned from work and parked the Kimmy away, came up the steps
of our house and sat to drink a welcoming mug of tea from Lyra I looked across the sea and thought what a strange light. It looked wintery the sort of light
heralding a thunderstorm. There were spits and spots of rain in the warm humid evening air but no actual rain. I took these pictures to see what you
think.

Thank you Lin. We've not been here long and it's a lovely outlook I must say. But it is dreadfully windy up
here! Even a light to moderate wind sounds like a raging gale.
The light gets quite weird here on the island. Last winter where we lived more north that was Emboreios, we were very exposed to the west where thunderstorms would come sweeping in, but sometimes from the south. We had some waterspots which, if I remember came over last january but swept in and hit Boudica's smallholding and drenched us. These watery tornadoes quickly lose their power once hitting land but they are mighty dangerous out across the water. I'll share some more pics whenever the light goes strange. But it's raining now but just a few pitter patters. Love Poppi |

Poppi's recently bought the new Panasonic Lumix with the 25 mm lens and 10 Mp. I have the 6Mp/28 mm lens version but both are really neat and pocketable
and turn out extremely good pics! They're only compact cameras and in no way replace the more exotic SLRs. But Poppi seems to have a wonderful knack at
grabbing the moment. I just supply the tea.

I love the first picture the most. The view is beautiful and the sky colors are interesting.
You take good pictures.

Boudica took one look at the sky and said "thunderstorms later" and I said no. But she was right. At about 4 AM
we were woken up to a belter with vivid lightning and crashing thunder than raged for an hour. Last night I left some washing out on the line and thought it
would be soaked but when I got up at 7 it was bone dry. Amazing.
This is tonight's pic taken a little earlier.
(spot metered again but set to 16:9 ratio)

Poppi, did you remove the last picture? I didn't get to see it.

I accidentally deleted it when mistakenly choosing the wrong pic to edit. See if I can get it back again.. one

I think this was it.
But later the skies turned grumpy and we reckoned this time for a storm later on.
.. and grumpier still!
Then the evening mellowed out to a pinky softness.
And I thought we won't be having a storm again tonight after all. How wrong I was. It could come this way. But who knows? Everything on my island is never as it seems because the wind's just backed up and increased, and the lightning flashes in the distance and ominous rumblings are moving ever closer.
