so when you mimic what happens? An error message, freezing or fat nothing?

Nothing. It loads the new page as if it has changed the settings to mimic the selected forum, but there are no changes. It just doesn't work. I think it
would be a great feature if it would work. I added a few forums today and tried it several times, but it never worked.

Hi krispy,
When you mimic a forum, do you select which parts you wish to mimic? Forum Features Reading Restrictions Posting Restrictions Poster Permissions If you don't select anything there, nothing will happen. |

Yes, of course. I selected them all because I was making 4 archive forums that I needed identical settings on.

I was mimicking all the settings from Post Archive 2007 to all the Post Archive 2008 forums.

It worked. I did a mimic of 3 different forums, including your 2007 archive forum.
What browser are you using? Can you tell me where it is going wrong? 1) mimic what ( Choose which settings and permissions to mimic) 2) mimic to ( Choose which forums to mimic settings to) 3) confirm mimic |

I'm going to try again. I tried it several times yesterday. It let me choose all the things I wanted, but when I confirmed, none of the settings changed. I'll let you know what happens when I try again  Thanks!

Ok, I figured out the problem
It's twofold...I'm an idiot and it's confusing LOL
I was doing it backwards! To me, it made sense to be in the new forum, hit the mimic button and choose the forum of the settings I wanted to copy...but that would make the forum I want to mimic actually take on the settings of the new forum. When I do it correctly and go to the forum I want to mimic, then choose new forum, it works. It just seems backwards to me If I had read a little more closely rather than checking boxes and submitting, I would have figured that out! LOL
Thanks for helping me see I was doing it all wrong
