Wondering... |

Why was the Hi Yukuman thread closed? I don't see anything offensive there. I did noticed that some posts are missing. So if the offensive posts were
removed or hidden, why was the topic still closed?

It was because I wrote to the admins requesting that some of my daughters' more personal posts be deleted for reasons
of disclosure. Along with an inappropriate post someone else made.

So sad someone is so lacking in their real life that they feel the need to construct a new ID just to launch a personal attack on someone...
sigh what a waste someone needs to get a REAL life that particular post should have been deleted immediately and I was quite surprised it wasn't miss the thread, though - smile - yukuman provides some comic relief |

miss the thread, though - smile - yukuman provides some comic relief Yeah me too Temple as I want to know what Alison has against my country and then I will start about what's wrong with hers down here. 3 WEEKS later and still no sun and "the lady in pink" has the hide to start on about England's weather.
Temple I also agree with you and we have to remember there are many "someone's" sitting at computers right this very second feeling they are tough dudes and that no one knows who they are or where they are and are out to do no good - have news for them "someone's" you go too far and you will be caught one day. |

Obviously Support can't be Everywhere and they can't be anywhere 24 hours a day
but I'm wondering if making IP addresses visible at least in the Lobby might help? I know people have strong opinions about that...and anonymity I am usually anon because I find it stifles peoples creativity on some of my boards to know the 'boss' is working in the background - chuckle sigh (you notice I DID say 'working' - not lurking...chuckle) but here - where there really are not enough Mods to go around (I DO prefer my Support to be working on real problems - not having to play hall monitor) maybe making IP addresses visible would help... just a thought I'm open to any and all helpful suggestions SMILE |

Well making IP's visible would be helpful to mods and admins....not sure how they would be helpful otherwise since they would be the only ones to see them.

I realize that there has to be a bad apple in every barrel, but making IP addresses available for all to see is not the way to go. There's
a Report link on every thread and the Staff has their PM links in their profiles. That should be sufficient when someone has to play childish and/or hurtful
games on these Support forums.

I never question why, but I do like yukuman...
If a post is closed, deleted or otherwise, I figure there was a reason. |

IPs should certainly not be shown to the public. Presumably, admins can already see them.
I missed the offensive post(s), so I have no dog in the particular fight--just an opinion in favor of keeping IPs private. |

Don't start!! Last year England FORGOT to have summer altogether!!
But of course, while I was in Sydney in June they had the worst floods in 40 years, and a tanker wound up on Nobby's beach. I didn't want to alert the authorities, but I suspect some british weather stowed away when we flew over! We would never show IP addresses to the public on this board. We can see them quite clearly ourselves, although anyone on dial-up has a large collection of them, and also there is a lot of cross over between other members who might use the same ISP. I don't think that people need to get totally wound up about someone suggesting that they are the same person. My response would be to shrug and laugh. If it's not true, then it's not true. You post on your own boards and you have your own friends who couldn't care less what some unknown person says. The fact that you all live in the same house and you use the same computer means that your IP addresses are the same. And the fact that sometimes several of you post within minute of each other could be explained by perhaps you all sitting at the computer together to read the boards. |

I never got wound up when a couple members thought I was Rob LaBatt. That situation was far worse than anything that could happen here with YM. |

It's not that long really since we first had one computer in our house. Whoever would have thought that we would have one each and a wireless network to
connect them all up on 24 hour use it any time you like broadband. Incredible!

It is incredible. My daughter has only just recently got wireless and up until then whenever I stayed with her there were 4 of us taking our turns to use the comp. Whilst there last week I looked up and there were 3 of us all on our own comps at the same time playing. Wireless makes life so much easier. |
