Posts: 115 31-Mar-08 11:57 AM	Tags : resolved My MBA board url is http://ournewplace2.yuku.com/directory I'm starting to get really annoyed with all the problems lately and hope they will ALL be resolved soon. Members are still stating how they have the wrong dates showing from time to time. I've advised them all now to go into their own account page and just redo the timezone thing as that seems to help. Now I'm getting a lot of problems where we post replies and either they don't show up at all, or they show up after several minutes, or they appear then suddenly disappear when you try to access them. I've also changed posts to correct typos, the new post shows, then suddenly it's gone again and replaced by the previous post. Or with the 404 error above, the post shows but when you go to open it you get 404 error message Sorry we were unable to render this page. What the heck is going on? Posts: 115 31-Mar-08 12:01 PM	Alrighty then, I now see after 3 attempts, I can't even edit my post here and at my own site, I edited a topic 3 times and it never changed either!! OY VEY!! Let's see if I can at least add a new reply! Oh, and refreshing does not work for me. I've tried it several times.

Posts: 115 31-Mar-08 4:00 PM	The same browser I've always used even when I was on ezboard all those years!!! Internet Explorer with is the same one almost everyone is using. I've been using IE for 8 years and I'm not going to start loading other browsers onto my pc just for Yuku so If you are going to tell me to switch to Firefox then forget it. Regrettably, I'll have to start my board somewhere else. And I started my board at Yuku over a year ago and never had problems like this before!. It seems Yuku is getting less and less compatible with IE and others that have been told to use Firefox are ++%! off and saying that if they continue having problems, they are sorry but they will just leave my board! This is really getting annoying now. This really makes me even angrier considering we bought almost 2 years of Gold membership which cost us $90 only to have a board that is getting more and more problems. I'm starting to wonder what sort of relationship Yuku may have with Firefox!!! As for the "broken" thread, it is now there again. Like I said, things seem to disappear and reappear at random. I don't mean to sound ungrateful to you but I'm constantly fielding complaints and enquiries at my board about all these darn glitches. It's not fun for me anymore and it's not my posters fault! Posts: 1121 31-Mar-08 4:44 PM	Nancy, I appreciate that you are frustrated and angry. I cannot solve your problems but I can perhaps correct a few things. Mozilla is a non-profit organisation and Firefox is free. Mozilla make a very secure "standards compliant" browser and have done for 10 years. Standards compliant means that it adheres to the recommendations of the World Wide Web Consortium. IE is not free, it is bundled with an OS. It's a bit like getting Google Toolbar added when you install a piece of software. In other words, it is a browser somewhat forced upon people. Fact: IE is less secure because there are more holes to exploit. IE is not a standards compliant browser (although it claims to have that capability). Basically, it does what M$ sees fit. This rather complicates things and with each version M$ do their own sweet thing which happens to differ from their previous versions. Hey, remember they want you to pay them more money to upgrade your OS. You know, the one that was so great 2 or 3 years ago? This is what yuku are having to contend with. It is not a matter of choice. It is a nightmare these days to ensure everyone sees what they are supposed to see in all browers. Please step outside ez / yuku and ask any webdesigner. Anyway, you have problems. What version of IE? (Help \| About) What OS and is it updated? When you refresh, are you using Ctrl-F5 or just the button? Perhaps you should direct your members here to report their problems here rather than fielding them yourself? Please try to be patient. I know it is difficult at times. I'm sure they are doing their best to make it the best. You may now appreciate that things just aren't so simple and nor are they as simple as they were only a handful of years ago.

Posts: 115 1-Apr-08 3:35 AM	OK, I'm using Version 7.0 of IE that came with my new computer with WIndows Vista OS that I just bought in August. Also, the only place I have trouble with these sort of issues is when accessing Yuku boards. And it seems the longer I'm with Yuku the worse these problems get and my members are stating the same thing. They and I also visit other boards that aren't on Yuku and everything is fine. This is why I refused\ to now load Firefox just to use Yuku if this is what is going to continue to happen. I don't feel like having Firefox for Yuku then using IE for everything else. Some of my members are older and have older systems and some with not as much memory and they are extremely reluctant to load this Firefox now. When I refresh I generally use the Refresh icon with IE. If this cannot be resolved, what is the policy of returning our Gold Community money? $90 is a lot of money to lose for a service that is only getting worse for us rather than better and the solution is load yet more software! I do appreciate you trying to help me with this though. I don't mean to be taking this out on you. But everything was so good before and now the last 2 weeks the board is just annoying at best! Not only do we have the problems I've already mentioned, but there are other complaints too like pages are slow to load or even time out. Several times last week, members got the "maintenance" page. As far as telling me to suggest they come here for solutions!! I wish I had a quarter for every time I've said that! I've directed them to the easy help link on the bottom of the page and suggested they file a ticket more times than I can count. Some people have done so then tell me days later they still haven't had a response. Others then just don't bother. I just am at the end of my rope right now with Yuku. Makes me sad because I've been a strong supporter for over a year now and even just abandoned my ezboard and came here and opened a new one on my own.

Posts: 1121 1-Apr-08 5:15 AM	Oh, I know it is difficult. They are working on it, just read the stickies at the top of this forum. The way I see it is the point in this forum is to bring problems to the attention of staff and then to gather information that may be helpful towards resolution. It must be difficult for developers, whose time is in so much demand with so much pressure, to sift through all this to get the actual detail required. I see two points really. The first one may even be missed and might be quite valuable in resolving an issue. That is that using your initiative you have advised members to set their preferences to use their own timezone and that has resulted in improving post dates. The second point about the 404 has it's own specific information gathering stickie here. OK, on we go... There are 2 kinds of refresh. The first, clicking the button or pressing F5, is simply a request by the browser to obtain an updated copy, if it exists. It looks for the first available one on the Internet and that could be stored anywhere, e.g. your ISP. This may not reflect the true status of the original. In order to send a request back to the originating server for a fresh copy, we use what is now called a hard refresh. That is pressing Crtl and F5 at the same time. Try this next time and see if it makes any difference. I know this is not a cure but it is helpful towards defining the problem and gaining a possible cure. FYI, I am not staff. I have been with ez since 1999 and involved with yuku since the early days. I am a multiple board admin. So, I've been around and have to deal with exactly the same as you do.

If the problem is browser related, then i need to use the same browser to test. If the topic has now come back, then perhaps the problem is nothing to do with the browser or topic, but a case of the page not refreshing as exstreamuser has suggested. This could be related to your ISP if they use browser caching, or it could be related to your own browser if you don't have it set to get the newest page. If it happens again, please do a hard refresh (ctrl F5) and let us know if that helps.

Posts: 1 8-Apr-08 7:00 AM	i'm just building my forum - when i'm signed in, i can view the topics with no problem. when i sign out and try to view, on 4 of the topics i get a 404 error - but the others i've created are fine. it's very frustrating and i don't know how to solve it. i do use mozilla.....
