Posts: 442 23-Oct-09 11:23 AM	Tags : None Okay, I am going to try to explain this and see if someone can help. We have forums - for instance the Intro forum - has no subforums, so at the top, there is a category strip (don't know if that is the official name for it). But we use it there. But the other forums have subforums, which look clean and nice. The problem is that main forum page, has that 'category' strip running across the bottom, with also the option to post in there - not good. People do sometimes post there, and we don't want that at all. Is there anyway to remove this strip - if not for the one that does not have sub-forums, we can create subforum there also. Posts: 442 23-Oct-09 12:14 PM	If you go into say the Main Forum, after all the sub-forums, there is the category strip that would normally show at the top with posts under it on a forum, but since we have sub-forums, it shows up at the bottom of the sub-forums. So, it does also show at the top of sub-forums for people to post. It reads: New Topic Mark Forum Read Topic Tools MAIN FORUM Feeds Topic Title Replies Views Kudos Last Post Author New Topic I don't know how to do a picture of it. Mark forum read - there is no forum to mark read. None of this is necessary. Does that make sense? Hey, you are fast. I was posting away and saw the bread crumbs get bigger:) If you can get rid of this stuff at the bottom of the page where the subforums are, will you tell me how. I have another board where the problem is worse, because I have less subforums. Thanks, Felicity But see how - these are sub-forums. Ok to do this is a little bit complicated, as the code to "hide" those things will also hide them once you go into the sub forums, so pretty much no one will ever be able to post anywhere lol So what you will need to do is copy your current skin, call the copy something like "hidden forum stuff". Then apply it to all the "master forums" which contain sub forums ( does that make sence? ) In this skin, you need to add this to the bottom of the advanced css: .box.extra-content.control-box.top {display:none;} .box.community-content.forum-box.ez {display:none;} .box.extra-content.control-box.bottom {display:none;} .box.extra-content.legend-box {display:none;} Zoe

No matter what combination the most they can do it quick post - this will not make people happy. The only other thing I could think of was to get rid of the option to reply or start new topic in the area so they won't post in there. Don't know if that will happen. lol. Posts: 442 23-Oct-09 2:15 PM	I think that I tried it every different way. We already have the two different skins. So I tried it on both. It worked great until, I went to try and respond to a post and the only option was 'quick reply'. Maybe, I am thinking this out while I am continuing to post on our board. If I just apply it to the Main Forum and not the subforums it might work work. But, I wonder if I only have to do it with the one I already have as being on the forum or on both skins. I would think just the skin that is applied to the forums. I am still thinking about this. Sheesh, I still have to use Safari, because FF won't let me use WYSIWYG. So anyhow, thinking this out. It may not work just look at the whole thing, but just the main forum. I guess I was trying to get off easily. I will try again. I want to know how to do it. Will get back to you. lol. Felicity

ADMINISTRATOR Posts: 348 23-Oct-09 2:38 PM the kute one	Felicity, To get this working, you actually need a third skin hehe, that is what I was trying to explain above, as to why its a little more complicated hehe. you would need: main skin ( has the sidebar and stuff) 2nd skin, applied to only the master forum of every forum that has a sidebar 3rd skin, applied to all sub forums and forums which dont have subforums. As I said, if it sounds too complicated, I am happy to help you with it. Zoe
