There's a lot of people who think the internet should be free... free of ads.... free of paying... it should all be at no cost.

Just try and get the people around here to pay more. Don't you remember the fits people went into when ads started and they had to pay for Gold?

He said he could care less about his profile. In the context, it means he doesn't mind ads on his profile. The post covers a lot more things than that. |

We are moving to a new data center tonight in fact to increase reliability and so we have more room to expand.
If f you subscribe to Gold for your community you can turn ads off for everyone. There are options to show ads to some members or visitors which you can use or not to help reduce Gold costs or as special incentives (such as rewarding members over a certain number of posts by turning off ads but showing ads to newbies with no posts.) We might possibly add other special privileges for Supporter subscribers in the future so if you have suggestions for things you'd like such as extra smilies please submit them: http://www.yuku.com/help/givefeedback/

"Yagotme Buggered mate"
Speaking of not speaking english........ however wasn't this supposed to be about quality of service, or lack there of? Ole Dasher made some good points. Authentication to just open a page takes ages, always has, and has nothing to do with user's isp speed, browsers, etc. How about addressing the basics, before adding more stuff that'll just muddy it up more? |

no, i want to be able to store more than 300 smilies - if you put this in as a suggestion as Kristin suggested then it will be
logged. Most people find 300 smilies ample. Especially since they have many different smilie sets and use them in
different forums.
no i haven't run out of space, but i will some day, and i'm willing to pay for additional space - And when people start to run out of space that is probably something we'll be looking at. Since you haven't run out yet, and neither has anyone else, the issue hasn't been raised yet. no, people who have gold boards still have ads for folk who are not supporters - no, that is not correct. As both Kristin and I have stated in this thread, if you have a gold board then you can make that board totally ad free for all visitors. Supporters wouldn't see ads anyway - whether your board is gold or not - as they pay for their own ad free experience. Please read our documentation to find our more. no, the respect aspect changed a couple of months back - I respectfully disagree with you, we implemented a code of conduct a few months back to make it even clearer how people should treat others and expect to be treated. internal bandwidth demands,,,is the move forward looking, or just to satisfy current demand - we are always looking forward, and this move should also solve current demand. i know several board owners willing to pay more for reliability,,,sadly some have already left and are doing exactly that elsewhere - we won't be asking anyone to pay extra for service that all deserve. |

I went to her link and sent in this one: "How about the reverse of the current benefit to an individual for donating to a board, the free Supporter that comes with a donation? When someone buys Supporter, the board of his or her choice would get a number of ad-free days or page views, assuming that the board accepted contributions." Submissions there, if accepted, go onto the list of features to vote for. This one isn't the kind of thing that should compete with other proposed features for votes, though. I don't know how that will work out. Maybe a separate list of proposed Supporter benefits would make more sense. |

the value of board gold is greater than the value of supporter in terms of cost to you, so buying a month of supporter for yourself couldn't come packed
with free board gold for a month, it would be far less in terms of day equivalents.
Trofeo, sometimes humour can come back and bite you in the behind if you're not able to laugh at yourself. |

Trofeo -- you've always made me laugh when reading your posts.
Somehow, you just seem to see life from a different angle...not quite sure what that angle is, but whatever it is, it makes me laugh.
Regarding Lasher's post, I can say that I think Yuku is working to improve things and that with luck, they have gotten the message that members want reliability and basics first, followed by frills.

the value of board gold is greater than the value of supporter in terms of cost to you, so buying a month of supporter for yourself couldn't come packed with free board gold for a month, it would be far less in terms of day equivalents.I had in mind a different ratio, similar to the one used when a donor to a board gets a short period of Supporter. Say you buy a year of Supporter. The bonus offer could be something like a dollar's worth of page views for a big board or a few days ad-free for a small one. (The accountants would have to work this out, decide what's affordable.) Customers could choose between that and some other Supporter feature. Different kinds of things serve as incentives to different people. Some customers don't care about extra graphic features but would like to help their boards. |
