But.......... There are so many reasons why each of us celebrate December the 25th and how we each see this time of year differently.
So this thread isn't meant to be a discussion on whether Christ existed or whether he was really born at this time of year, as all must respect each others faiths and beliefs, so no political correctness need enter into it. It is simply a fun thread for us each to say exactly what this time of year means to us, if indeed it does as I know many don't celebrate it at all.
Christmas to me is a celebration of the end of the old and the beginning of the new. Each year as it gets closer to Christmas I think about how I want the brand new year to start of and my hopes of what the next year will bring.
For a couple of weeks leading up to the big day or days as in some of our countries for those of us that celebrate Boxing Day as well, everyone seems much nicer to each other. It's a time when we do think of others first and we try our best to put the nicest part of ourselves forward.
Strangers pass each other in the street with a big smile and a merry christmas even if they are freezing cold or wringing wet from the rain or snow.
We lie to the kids about Santa and get very disappointed when they reach the age when they tell us we are lying and for that extra year we will still swear blacks blue that Santa really does exist. But I believe that for that very short time Santa does exist or rather the Spirit of Santa exists.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could keep that spirit all year around.

. Then Christmas Day we'd spend at our own houses, Grandma and Grandpa usually came over to our house as
well as my Grandma on my fathers side (his brother and sister lived out of town) for dinner and we'd spend all day just spending time with the family.
My fondest memories of Christmas growing up were not the toys, I barely remember
any of them that I got, for me it was spending time with my parents and brother.
