Thanks for the tip, Alison, but I've ordered a MacBook. Some time ago, my local dealer said installing OS X in a G3 was possible, but the machine would run more slowly. I already have an ample supply of "slowly."

Anyway, this G3 has had so much use that both parts of the plastic apple fell out of the lid. (We glued them back in.) I never know what might go next.
