Posts: 325 30-Oct-08 9:37 PM	Click Admin > Community Settings > General Ad Settings But I really wish that the ads were pulled temporarily until the malicious ad and/or ads are discovered by someone qualified to do so. I've read up on this and the complaints in this thread and all over the internet....this one is bad news for everyone!

Posts: 76 31-Oct-08 11:11 AM	Oh, good! I hope this stops all the trojan attempts and redirects too. It's bad today. I've been looking over Yuku profiles and I've noticed that every single time the Domino's ad appears, my AVG stops the trojan and then I am redirected to "ourstuffedfriends.com".

Posts: 1 2-Nov-08 4:50 PM	This aggravation is usually contained in a zip file attached to an email that looks like it is from UPS. It says something like, "Your UPS order is messed up and you need to look at the attached invoice. Foe each day the invoice is outstanding, you will be charged 6 dollars." The zip file does not contain an invoice - it contains an exe file. Exe files are automatically blocked by most systems. We can get it in "under the radar" by wrapping it in a zip file which IS allowed most places. If you are running a good anti-virus/spyware scanner combination, alarms will go off. Otherwise, when you click on the attachment, you download AntiSpyWareXP 2009 and it will nag you about all these infections you have. Bill Castner gives excellent removal instructions at this site: http://forum.aumha.org/vi...pic.php?f=30&p=203705 Follow the instruction exactly. You might as well go ahead and download all of the programs you will need to your desktop in advance: ATF Cleaner ComboFix HijackThis FixPolicies MBam and have a printed copy of the instructions handy. Left alone, this trojan will start sending out 4-5 emails per second using port 25 of the computer it is on. What that means is that it doesn't use Outlook or any other mainstream email program - it has its own mail server. It manufavtures its own random mailing list (does not mine the local address book) and that furious activity can get your IP address blacklisted at many spam sites. If, like most home users, you have a dynamic IP address in that it changes everytime you power cycle your DSL or cable modem, you can get around that blacklist. If you have a static IP address, as most businesses do, your entire firm will get blacklisted for being the source of spam. To prevent this, and to be able to locate a rogue (zombie) machine, write a firewall rule that disallows port 25 calls through the firewall. Check the logs now and then to see if the firewall is busy blocking these salvo emails. The firewall can become so busy blocking the bogus emails that all of the people who share that line (DSL, cable, T1, etc) will be complaining of severe Internet slow down including email access. Go to this site and "benchmark" your speed: http://www.bigdealguy.com/speedtest/ If it cuts to about half, see if you can locate a computer that is either spitting out massive amounts of emails or if a person is download every song the Internet has to offer. However, other than popping up a box telling you that it's a Windows executable, a Mac doesn't know what to do with an .exe file, so you don't have to worry about malware actually being installed. The exception, of course, is that if you're running Windows on a Mac and are actually browsing in the Windows operating system. In Windows, if you're not in IE, I don't think you have to worry to much about the malware being installed without at least doing a lot of clicking. For instance, Firefox won't automatically run .exe files without an extension to do so. Also, Firefox needs an extension to access Active X.

So if anyone is still experiencing it, please do post. Otherwise we have no way of telling that it's still happening. There is a program called 'Malware bytes' from http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php that can remove it if you've got it, and that can block it if you don't. It's being recommended by most as the number one to get this nasty out of the way.

I was thinking that if Macs get some such notice but are in no danger, members who have them could visit profiles and look for ads and then tell yuku what ad was showing when something weird happened. However, cedar's post probably makes this moot.

Especially considering that in an ad media.adrevolver.com redirecting to: http://www.break.com/index.html?ref=track50 Then you are stuck in a loop on that and can't read the thread because everytime you open it you get redirected. It just happened again, its Monday Novemeber 3 2008 So the problem is not resolved. The board is not usable at all, when is someone going to look into this? Posts: 76 3-Nov-08 11:40 AM	I still get ads that load and then freeze for a few seconds while bombarding me with lots of urls trying to load on the bottom left of the browser before I'm redirected. Today, it took me to some yellow pages site when I couldn't stop it in time. Yesterday, my browser kept minimizing itself while AVG complained of eight trojans in a row, all seconds with each other, and I couldn't right click the browser button on the bottom so I had to open up task manager to close it. They're all listed as JS/Downloader.Agent

Download something? What? Antivirus2009? js downloader.agent? ActiveX? 3) which browser are you using and which version? Examples are IE6 or 7, Firefox 2 or 3 4) which antivirus program are you using 5) which anti-spyware are you using? If you are using Firefox and are getting dialogue boxes, we would really appreciate your use of an extension called Firebug. Firebug can help tell us who is serving the ads on pages where you're getting a dialogue box. Please remember that on each page there may be 2, 3 or more ads, depending on your settings of posts per page. Bob, I'm doing what I can to find the programs that have proven to be most helpful by credible companies and reviews to remove this. If you've tried Lavasoft Adaware, Search and Destroy, Spyware Blaster or have any of these already installed and they're not preventing the problems on your computer, malwarebytes is a good and reasonably priced protection for your computer and in this case it's proven to be efficient in removing the nasties that are already there related to Antivirus2009 and js downloader.agent. SSS recommends Revo Uninstaller. Will Kirby posts some recommendations and information here. Gtpforever and Lininct discussed "Spyhunter". If anyone has found a free version of that program, please provide information for that. We are still examining whether it is related to look-alike hijacks last month at big active sites, where peoples' computers were infected for instance (so this isn't a complete list) by looking at a video (Youtube), doing a search (Google), catching up with the news (CNN) or downloading a fake activeX control in any of these sites and other sites to 'continue' watching a clip of some kind or fully open a page. Obviously we are examining too where the hooks within Yuku are and what we can do about those and we are following multiple leads. It is not proven or disproven that the malware is distributed by Yuku or by ads in Yuku and I'm not going to argue one way or the other with anyone. My communications are with the technical staff and management and that's where I'm keeping it. The more reports we have, the better. You are all free to have your own opinions about whatis and isn't that is causing this or what should be done or how wrong things are, but please leave this thread for those who are experiencing this so that we can gather data and information here. We have removed the ads that we've found to aggravate it, and we will continue to respond to reports. However, there is a distinct lack of reports right now. So please, leave this topic open for reports and relevant information ONLY.

Obviously we are examining too where the hooks within Yuku are and what we can do about those and we are following multiple leads. I start my computer, go to my board without going anywhere else, open a thread and get redirected. Thats all I can tell you. Posts: 24 6-Nov-08 3:15 PM	my apologies, i just read the first post, from lack of time, but i will try to read tomorow i hope this is not too off topic over here never click that particular warning - it got me on several other sites- read it all here http://joshgroban.yuku.com/topic/8938?page=1 only 5 pages- the thread died pretty quick the antivirus on the second post is the best i've seen so far i would advise everyone to use it if you're afraid or being infected ... it doesn't run in the background and you can use it with another one that does- eg. AVG8 - and if the virus infects your pc and shields your AVG, this will get rid of the virus hope you never get it though Peace, Love, Respect, Lexx
