1) It would be the same pw you use when you log in to your group(s) at msn

2) No, we don't need to crawl, we're not archiving the groups, we're migrating them. Your private group can remain private and will be private after migration. The security settings remain intact.

3) There is no need to create a group, we do it all for you. All you need to do is sit back and relax.

I presume we can make any/all changes to the new group once it's all migrated... I like keeping some of the groups private.

You can make any change you wish after migration. If the group is private now, then it will also be private after migration, those security settings get migrated with the group.

1. If you migrate my members, does that also create Yuku accounts for them? and if it does and you delete me member list, does that delete their account? I just don't want to "force" my members to come to Yuku if they choose not too and this sounds as though it might create a Yuku account for them with a username they do not want to use. On my Yuku site, I currently have a forum named "General Chit Chat", which is where I would want the content of my "General" MSN message board migrated to, is that possible or not?

Whew, I bet these questions are clear as mud! Sorry, just trying to get a better understanding of how the migration will effect what I have already done on Yuku as well as the implications to my member at MSN.

My apologies for the late reply, I haven't had a chance to make it back here yet.

1) Migrating a group migrates the member list. Yes, accounts are created for them. By what I can see, the usernames remain the same as they were on MSN, they won't end up with a name they don't like because it will be the same name as they has on MSN.
Deleting your member list would not delete the accounts.
The thing is though, your members are your group. Member's posts are what makes a group. I don't think that a migration should be seen as 'forcing' your members to move. The group will move because MSN closes. The members will move with the group.
If you feel strongly about this, I don't know if this is possible on MSN, but if it is, you could send an email to your members and ask them to remove their membership from your group before migration.
I know that the 'send email to all' is possible, but I don't know if people can remove their membership from a group or not.

2) I need to see a few more migrations before I can answer that for sure. The migration tool is still being refined and I won't know more until tomorrow when we have done some more migrations. Right now, the skin on the yuku location remains intact, but I know that a skin is being made for migrated groups. I really can't tell until tomorrow.

3) The forums will not be migrated inside existing forums. Say you have a forum named general on your msn group, that forum would be migrated as a separate entity. It would not contain any posts that are in your yuku forum called general.

1. Will migrating to an existing Yuku group wipe out the customized skins, images, custom smilie sets, security settings, etc. that are already in place on the existing Yuku site?

No it will not.
However, Arizona has made a skin that will support the borders around the images when they are imported. I usually suggest to people that I apply that "migration" skin to their yuku community for the duration of the import.
Afterwards, you can put your own skin back and either keep the migration skin for the imported forums or your existing skin can be adjusted to support your borders.

2. If we chose to import content we would NOT wish to import the member list. I hate the idea of creating an account for someone who may not even want it. Plus, like others, we have tons of inactive accounts and this is a good opportunity to clean house. That being said, what happens to the migrated posts of those who are not members of the new Yuku site? Will the posts stand, even though they don't have a membership or profile or will those posts simply disappear?

As far as I know, the migration happens with one script that does migrate the member list along with everything else.
You can request to not have your members notified of the migration though. You could also delete them inactive members before the migration, that way they would not be migrated.
Whether their posts will stand or not after you delete them depends on your settings on MSN. If I'm not mistaken, you can choose on MSN whether posts by deleted members will also be deleted or not. If you choose to not have them deleted, they will be migrated to yuku.

3. When you say that it will not wipe out the data that is already there, do you mean that the migrated forums/categories/posts will just appear IN ADDITION to the content that is already in place and will basically insert itself into the current site?

Exactly. The imported forums will a surplus to the forums that are already there. your yuku forums will remain untouched. The migrated forums are simply added to the board.

I just read your post about being able to migrate to an already setup YUKU community without wiping out the content. THAT IS WONDERFUL!!!!!! Can you do that with mine (Lovin Stitches)? Also can you let me know an approximate date of when the migration will happen?

I have applied the migration skin to that community to receive the group.

If you want it imported to a different yuku location, please let me know as soon as possible so that I can change it in the waiting queue.
