Hi rubyred,
The option to delete an account is temporarily unavailable. You could just abandon your account until the delete option gets reinstated. |

Actually I know I am being pedantic here but doesn't temporarily mean for a short while. It's been 2 years now since we have been able to delete
accounts and many of us are holding on to user names that others could claim if they want to and we could create others without having to make up more email
addresses and pay for seperate supporter for those names.
To me it feels as if Yuku have totally abandoned the accounts, profiles, blogs etc. Everything that belongs to an individual seems to have been put by the wayside including over 10 long running bugs in the accounts and profiles. The ordinary members are leaving Yuku in their droves. Surely user accounts, profiles and blogs are just as important as boards. Are the boards and profiles that intertwined that someone can't be put to sorting out the accounts and profiles while others are working on the boards.

I have been working feverishly trying to overcome a tremendous drop in board participation since the migration (up to a 75% drop - sigh) If it were just one board - I would figure it was just that board having problems - but it is four boards that address four entirely different memberships. Part of the problem is quite simply that although Yuku offers much more!!! than ezboard ever did - it is much more difficult to navigate (in some cases even find) all the tools necessary to: register create a profile actually participating on a board is relatively minor if you can actually figure out the first two. I have found that many (most?) of those who have lost interest in the Yuku boards have created their own 'non' Yuku blogs I don't think most people even know that you can blog on Yuku - sigh sorry - this kind of digresses from the original question about being able to delete personal profiles the comments just struck a sensitive cord...

Actually there is quite a lot of movement on profiles behind the scenes. But we can't drip feed the work in. Just because you don't see it happening,
doesn't mean that it isn't.
But our priority remains with those people who are moving from ezboard to yuku. They do not want us to lose focus on the messageboards and turn to blogs. This system is built around messageboards, unlike social network systems which place more importance on profiles. We are community based, not individual based. And maybe when blogs next get updated you'll be able to import from other systems. So that won't matter anyway! |

Ahhh, I see I have been censored again, rofl. Other people can add a link to their profile or board and even advertise their board on here, but I added a
little link to a poll I have going on my profile and it's been edited out.
Well done Yuku staff again. Perhaps I will come back in a few mins and find this reply hidden as well. Just for information, that poll was to get info from other Yuku members so that I could put a sugestion into Yuku regarding the profles. Do Yuku staff actually want Yuku to succeed?? I have been working my socks off trying to encourage more people to make use of and enjoy the profiles and blogs on Yuku instead of disappearing to other profile interact systems as they are. Question for you Alison: did you actually bother to go read the poll and my comments on my vote before you edited out the icon?? |

Then perhaps you should have made a link that explained what it was for, rather than just linking to your board without explanation. As yuku is no longer in
beta, and since recent events that you might remember, we are no longer allowing links that qualify as spam.
This topic is about deleting topics, so your link to a separate board to a poll about facebook was not on-topic for this thread and hence I removed it. I would be happy for you to start a poll about it on this board, since we allow polls here. |

I understand your point, Alison -- but, to be honest if you were to follow that rule consistently, you would need to delete about half of the posts on this board...including several made by staff.

Please feel free to use the report post link on any post that you believe staff have missed.

The icon was put there as I was trying to be discreet and not shove something in peoples faces as some do. It was there so anyone that was interested could
click on it and by pass it if they weren't.
As for starting a poll on this board about the same thing 1) it would be pretty stupid to have the same poll running in two seperate places and 2) if you deleted a tiny discreet icon you sure as hell would have deleted a whole poll thread about the same thing. If my little icon in one single post counted as spam surely the person who blatantly advertised their board and continually bumped the topic should have had their whole thread deleted. |

so, back to topic...does yuku plan to allow users to delete their own, unused profiles? if so, is there a future release date for this feature? something we
can aim for, pin our dreams on?

That thread was locked, at least, after the person bumped it one more time, having been asked not to. If I may suggest a compromise that would prevent the ruffling of future feathers: When yuku admins delete a post, the writer may not know why. The writer of a silly or obscene post can figure out what line it crossed, but that wasn't the case here. If an admin posted something like "UserName, your post contains only a link. Could you tell us what it's about so people can decide whether to take the time to click there?" it wouldn't strain relations as a silent deletion does. On the writer's side, posting just a link isn't very useful. A link will attract fewer clickers than a link with a description. I hardly ever follow a link if I'm not told what kind of thing is at the other end. Full disclosure: I'm unaware of whatever recent events changed the local definition of spam. |

Trying to get back on topic, too. Once Yuku figured out how to add account deletion to the list of features again, what about those old accounts and profiles
that are just being abandoned now for lack of better alternatives?
I remember back when - I think beta had only just started - there was talk about doing an inactive account purge when everything would be moved over - basically leaving behind the garbage so to speak. Now, it doesn't look how that happened. Does someone know anything about the plans concerning this matter? |

This woman is totally sweet talking this. I'm in the process of trying to delete my account and I am doubtful that they will implement this feature soon.

I don't get why anyone would want to delete their account.
I have a question though: Rob's (Robert Labatt) account was indeed deleted, and now someone else has registered it. I hope you (Yuku) deleted all access to whatever private boards he had access to and that whatever powers he had were revoked prior to the account deletion? |

They wouldn't have used the same e-mail to register it and super admin privileges are removed when someone leaves the company anyway.

Seems that not being able to delete an account is not unusual. I have a membership elsewhere and that one is even worse because not only can you not delete
your account, but you can't remove yourself from communities. If you no longer wish to be a member you have to ask the community admins to take you off the
list!
But I have to admit that I don't understand what the problem is with this. Why is it such a difficult thing to allow people to do? |

So after reading this thread (may add after weeks of being unable to get here cause it to darn slow ) they who run yuku can delete robs account so another
member can claim it but are unable to delete account that members have asked to have deleted.
mmmmmmm surly the same button / click of a mouse would work on their account the same as robs . sorry but can you clear for everyone why you are unable to do this ? surly it should be the same for all accounts not just rob lambbarts. Or (mind ticking over here ) maybe you wont delete accounts as it looks good on stats. |
