Friends Not Showing |
Lead | ||
|
I am still pretty new to Yuku, so I only have a few "friends" so far. On my Navigation
page I can click on friends and see 8, but on my profile it only shows 2 friends. I know my partner has me listed as a friend, so why doesn't he show as a
friend on my profile page? I have just spent a very long time updating my profile adding sections, deleting others. I had to remove the comments section as
it was being abused by Spammers and trolls, and I set the comments for the blog to me only.

On your navigation bar do you have in bracket (0) (8) (0)
If so then those 8 friends are waiting for you to either click to approve or deny them. Click on the number in brackets and on the next page you will see them sitting there. I am hoping that's what you mean. Also you say you had to disable your comments section because of spammers. You can edit that section and set it to manually approve any comments before they show on your profile if you want to still keep it activated for friends and other genuine Yuku members to leave you comments. It does depend on what you call spam though, as it wont be just your friends that would comment in that block but other Yuku members. We don't just leave comments on profiles of people we know. We all will often leave a comment or drop a kudos off on a profile as we are passing through.

No, what I mean is if I click to see recent friends it shows 8 friends in the list. But on my profile it only shows 2. If
people want to post to me they may send me a PM or post on my groups, or visit my blog on Blogger and post comments. I do not want comments posted on my
profile. I have also posted this on the general help forum after realizing this was the wrong forum for the question.

The profiles listed in the section you are referring to are not necessarily on your friends list. They may be people you have interacted with. If you check to
see who have given you kudos, are those people in that list?

Chris, do you remember the five automatic friends you received when you first joined Yuku.... Matthew's question put me in mind of that from 2006....
I remember members asking who were they, and why are they my friends..? Matthew, the one thing you will always have on Yuku is friends, as Yuku is the friendmaker... |

Basically what I am looking for is to see members of my groups that I have added as friends to actually show up as friends on my profile. I am also interested in becoming friends with the members of groups I have joined, and any friends and family that have joined Yuku. I do not want strangers who I do not know from any Yuku group or any other service to automatically think I want them to be my friend and to post comments on my profile. I want to get to know people first through contact on groups here, so that I know we share interests and have things in common. I have no clue how to see who has given me kudos, as I still have no idea really what the purpose of kudos is. What I am talking about is when you login to Yuku, and then click on Navigation to the right. In the center section, the right tab is Friends. Clicking on that shows recently updated, recently added, and interacted. Recently updated and recently added both show people that I added as friends as I know them, they are members of my groups, or I am a member of theirs. I know for a fact that my partner added me as a friend. But then when I go to my profile, it only shows 3 people, not including my partner, or several others who I added as friends days ago. |

The friends may not have accepted your request yet if you sent the request to be their friend. It will show people as recently added tab even though they have
not yet accepted the request, and thusly, you wouldn't see them in your friends box on your profile because it hasn't become official yet. (It will
also show people you denied under recently added... which is weird... and someone should change that... hint hint Yuku gods and goddesses
)

You are right, it does show a stranger I denied today under recently added. But if I go to my partner's profile and click on friend it asks me if
I want to remove him or something like that, so he is a friend, but not showing on my profile. Do only members with avatars show up as friends on
profiles?

No Matthew, some of my friends don't have avatars. They show up with the blue bubble head man silhouette.

Regarding kudos that people may leave you. They show up in your comments block as a comment, which you said that you had disabled I believe.
Also if you click on the number next to the "kudos" button that will take you to a page where you can see everyone that has given you a kudos. A word of warning. You said that you didn't want spam in your comments block and that is why you have disabled it. When people give you a kudos it also gives them a box to type in and leave you a message to go with the kudos image in your comments block. So if people do this they are not spamming your profile. They are simply being friendly. So even if you have your comments disabled or set for only friends to view there is a possibility that you will still get a message from a stranger along with the kudos. Yuku members are very friendly. We like to go to a new arrivals profile and leave a comment or a kudos to welcome people to the system. We also will leave a message as we pass through a profile to maybe wish someone a good weekend or good week or whatever. People wont be spamming your box. If you don't want comments or kudos or don't want friendships then I would advise that you use one of your blocks to make an announcement to this fact for everyone that passes through or you will get people trying to befriend you. |

I already re-enabled comments. Excuse me, but with over 9 years of being on the internet full time almost every day, I know the difference between a
friendly message and Spam. When people post links and advertising in comments on my profile, that is Spam. Not everyone on Yuku is friendly. Every service
of this type has Spammers and trolls, and I am dealing with them accordingly.

I realize not everyone on Yuku is friendly, but there are way more friendly people than unfriendly ones.
Nice to meet you by the way... |

What I am talking about is when you login to Yuku, and then click on Navigation to the right. In the center section, the right tab is Friends. Clicking on that shows recently updated, recently added, and interacted. Hi Matthew, Yes that is exactly what I was referring to. The section in your navigation area shows people who have interacted with you (comments kudos) not just your actual friends. That is why you see more names there than on your friends list. What is the username of the person you should have a friend connection with? Perry, yes I remember the 5 friends. Nowadays it's just one friend.. yuku team

My partner who is registered on Yuku and a member of one of my groups has said he thinks he accepted my friend request. I asked him to log into Yuku
on his phone to check, since I'm busy on the computer, but he said he can't as your website uses too much memory. His Yuku username is
Cmulcahey.

When you look at his profile, he hasn't logged in for almost a month, so if you made the request recently then it may still be pending.

That's typical of him. He mostly does jigsaw puzzles and looks up boring stuff online, LOL. Trying to get him on social networking sites is very
difficult. He still isn't even on Facebook. I'll try to make sure he approves the request Sunday when he's off work and will be online. I have a
couple more friends showing now.

He is working today for his boss, who is sick, and will get Tuesday off instead, which is what he wanted anyway. That way we can go out for our St
Patrick's Day Dinner early! I'll try to get him here tomorrow.
