The discussion was locked because it ended in a discussion that had nothing to do with the topic at hand or with migrations and it was about to get out of hand. I invited anyone who had unanswered questions to start a new topic which I see you did

Your message below was posted 18 days ago. I know you've been waiting for a script to be written and run to remove you from all groups before ownership can be corrected. But it has now been 16 days since MSN closed, and didn't the technicians who write the scripts know they were going to need to write this one, and didn't they consider starting to write it while the migrations were in progress so it could be run as soon as all the migrations were over on 2/23?

While migrations were in progress, there was no time to deal with anything other than migrating groups. Had we concentrated on other things, some groups -which might have included your last group that was migrated- would not have had a chance to be migrated. We honestly and literally used every minute we had.
I am as eager as you are to see the script being written so that my name can be removed from all migrated groups. You are dealing with 4 groups, but I am dealing with hundreds. Being listed as the owner on hundreds of groups means that I receive every application for membership in my inbox, to every private group and every private forum. We're talking about 50 to 70 messages a day in addition to my regular messages. So yes, I want the script as much as you do

I have had groups on many services over the years. Ownership/Management/Moderation/Administration was always established as belonging to me and only me, as I created the groups

This will be the case here too once ownership has been sorted out.

Now I have multiple IDs on Yuku, but I only actually created 2 of them. Yuku created all of the others. I can't even log in with 2 or more of them because the passwords that were provided do not work. I've reported this, and received no replies, and nothing was done to rectify this. I only log in to Yuku with this ID, the one I created when I registered with Yuku. I used some of the other IDs to promote this ID to Admin. on all 4 of my groups, but there are 2 or more Owner IDs on all of those groups, including yours still.

The ids were not actually created by yuku, they were migrated from MSN
Can you tell me where you reported this and did not receive a reply? We can remove the ids you don't want if you submit a ticket and ask to have them removed from your account.
And again, ownership will be sorted out as soon as we can.

I have cleaned up all the membership lists as best as I can, even though your server has major problems with member list editing, and usually completely freezes up my IE, as it did the other day when I tried to edit ONE membership. I still have not completed editing that member out, as I do not like having to use another browser just to edit member lists here on Yuku,

When we requested migrations, we were told that we should use an assistant manager ID, and this ID would migrate over as an admin, not an owner. We were told that any manager ID shown on MSN would migrate over as an owner, and that it would be best to have only manager listed. In some cases this was not possible for me, as I was also attempting migrations to other services to find out which was best, and other services required us to be listed as managers for migrations, so I had to keep at least one throway ID as manager besides my primary. All of my AM IDs migrated as Owners, NOT admins, and they all migrated as newly created local IDs, not the IDs as they were on MSN. My primary manager ID on MSN is the same as my primary Yuku ID, with the same email address, but that existing Yuku ID was not listed as a member of ANY of my migrated groups, only the new ID with the group name tacked to the end of it was listed. I had to join each of my own groups with my primary Yuku ID. This makes no sense!

Your yuku account and your MSN account(s) were separate accounts, the MSN accounts were migrated while your yuku account was already here, hence the multiple ids.
We really can't sort things out until I'm out of the picture as far as my ownership is concerned. One of the reasons why this is taken so long is because attention and priority is currently given to moving boards between servers. The migrations caused an overload to one of the servers, a new server was installed and boards are being moved to the new server. The overload caused an underperformance and caching issues (posts disappearing on the boards, and many more problems)
Moving those boards between servers is a tedious job and given the face that there were so many problems with that server, it was necessary to give high priority to installing new servers and moving boards. We are still working on this. As a matter of fact, we will be working in the middle of the night tonight to move a big board.
Making sure that the newly migrated groups don't suffer from the server overload too much does have priority over removing my name from the boards as owner. We don't have a huge staff, so things take some time. I don't mean this to sound bad, I just want to explain that performance always has priority over other things, because without a board that works properly, nobody can build their communities to make them flourish.

We were not made aware that this would happen, and the few members who have chosen to move with my groups to Yuku so far are mostly creating their own IDs, not using the ones created by Yuku. They can't figure out how to use those Yuku created IDs! They question why they are not the same as their MSN IDs. I think this is a reason why no other service migrating groups attempted to migrate member lists. Some did try to retrieve email addresses and send out invitations, but that was spotty at best.

Migrating the members did have advantages and disadvantages. I think we were caught between a rock and a hard place here. We tried to go that extra step by migrating the member lists, but the fact that many of MSN users had their emails hidden played a role in how those members got migrated and things got a bit messy here and there. While most members were able to just log in with the login we provided, some were unable to do so and had to submit tickets in order to get help with the login process. All it takes is a ticket though, we can sort those things out for them. I'm trying here to put myself in someone else's shoes and wonder what I would do if this happened to me. To tell you the turth, I think I would just create a new account

Yuku also migrated over messages and discussions that had been deleted, so now we have to go through and delete them again on Yuku. When trying to delete messages from discussions, if the lead message is deleted, the entire discussion deletes! That has happened to me with 2 discussions now, but thankfully neither was all that important to keep. It would have been nice if discussions from MSN that had messages shown as deleted would have only migrated over the messages that were still intact. In some cases the lead message in a discussion gets deleted, but the remaining messages, or at least a majority of them, were worth saving. Now if we try to permanently delete the lead message in a discussion on Yuku it deletes the whole discussion. I guess we have to just edit the lead message, although we can delete any other message in the discussion w/o it affecting the whole discussion. Something needs to be changed to allow the first message of a discussion to be deleted, and then make the first reply the new lead message in the discussion.

As I was reading through this part, I was going to suggest you just edit the lead, but I see that you already figured that out.
I will add your suggestion of keeping the replies after lead deletion to the wish list, I think that is a good suggestion. If you accidentally deleted whole topics because you deleted the lead, you can restore them.

Click on log in your admin menu. Search for the topic you deleted an you will see a restore option there, it will show in blue. Click on restore and the topic will be restored. You can then edit the lead post and save the replies.

Something else you can do with topics that came across of which the lead post is deleted but the replies are there is .... split the topic, split off the lead and this will make the first reply the new lead.
To do this, click on the topic so that you are inside of it. Then click on topic tools and select split topic.
On the next page, check the radio button where you want to split the topic and follow the directions from there.
This will get rid of the deleted lead post and save the rest of the topic.

Also to request migrations we had to provide one of our manager or AM IDs, along with the password, so the migration team would have access to the group, and so the group would migrate with the same security settings as it had on MSN. Well, then why did I have to approve a member of the migration team as a member of 3 out of 4 groups before those groups migrated? Since one group migrated w/o requiring a membership for the migration team, since you had access with the manager Info I provided, I don't understand why I had to approve the migration team as a member for the other 3 groups. I also don't understand why the migration team didn't cancel their own memberships in the MSN Groups once the migration was done, and also cancel their membership in the migrated Yuku group.

The fact that one of your groups migrated without us having a membership there was a mistake on my part. I initiated the migration without checking to see if we already had a membership there or not.
We could have migrated the groups without having a membership, but there were several reasons for us to have a membership.
To name a few: (not in any particular order of importance)
* Many groups had to wait several weeks for the migration and some groups were getting very anxious wich was totally understandable. I'd be worried too, knowing the system my group was on would be closing and I had been waiting weeks to see my group migrated. One reason why we became a member was to show at some point during this wait that we had not forgotten on them and that they were indeed on our migration list.
* A real important reason for being a member was that many groups were private. Yes we could have logged in as the manager since we had all the logins, but we were migrating up to 50 groups at once. Each group had to be monitored closely. Imagine each time we did our rounds to monitor a group, we'd have had to look up the manager's login info, log in as them, check the progress, compare it to what was on yuku already, adjust the importer, then log ourt, go to the next group, find the login info, log in again, etc.. etc.. being a member of all those groups enabled us to use one single login to migrate and monitor many groups at once.
* Another reason for membership was because we did random tests to make sure the mails went out to groups. We unhid our email at random groupd to make sure we'd be sent a password. Then we checked and it was a way for us to know for sure that the mails had gone out to those groups.

The reason why we also needed the manager's login was because we did have trouble migrating groups without a manager login, as the import tool could only read what it could see through the manager account. That's the way it was built.

We did delete ourselves from quite a few groups, simply because you can only be a member of 100 groups at MSN, and since we only had 3 MSN accounts and hundreds of groups, we had to systematically delete ourselves from the groups in order to become a member at more groups.
We didn't delete ourselves from the yuku groups but anyone who finds us at a group is free to delete us.

NONE of the groups migrated over with the proper security settings either. They all migrated over as if they had been public on MSN, so anyone on Yuku could join and/or post messages w/o my approval. I had to go in and change the settings on all 4 groups! In some cases this was after people had joined and posted messages, including one who had never been a member of any of my MSN groups. My groups on MSN were all public restricted, so visitors could view content, but not post, and had to be approved for membership. Even with the manager info you had from me, you did not migrate over these security settings.

I apologise for that, as it was definitely an oversight on our part. We got settings right on most groups but some did get the wrong settings. I am not going to cough up excuses here, this was an oversight that doesn't have an excuse. It should not have happened and as I should have said an oversight on MY part, not *our* part, I do apologise for that.

I would like to have complete and sole control of my Yuku groups. I want this CraftyMatthew Yuku ID to be listed as owner rather than admin of all 4 of my groups. I want any owners listed to be deleted, so the only names remaining in the member list besides CraftyMatthew-Owner are all members only. Some people who used to have groups on MSN and now have groups here on Yuku, or Aimoo, or elsewhere, along with a website of their own, are trying to cause real trouble for me. I need to be able to have control over my groups to make sure these internet trolls and cyber bullies do not crack into my groups and cause damage and trouble. I am an honest person, and post the truth on the internet, but these people do not, but I do not want to discuss that any further.

I promise you -and this is a promise- that I will sort out your groups first as soon as my name has been removed from the groups. you will be sole owner and will have full control over your groups.

BTW, I have sent one or two requests to the Help Desk about some of the things in this message, but I have never received any replies. The only way I get help here on Yuku is on this forum, usually from you Chris, but sometimes from other helpful Yuku members. The Help Desk is not replying to requests for help, or at least they did not during the migration period.

Hi Pat,

The page she is referring to has login fields in the centre of the screen. Ask her to look at the top left of that page, there is a smaller login field, can she log in from there?
