What is it?
Post screening, allows moderators, administrators and board owner to see the posts first before they make them visible to the public.
When a board owner or admin makes a post in a forum with post screening turned on, their posts will automatically be released. For moderators, if they are a moderator of that forum, the posts show automatically. If they have mod powers in another forum(s) but not the forum with screening their posts will need to be released.
Enabling post screening.
To enable post screening, log in to your account, go to your community and click on the admin link at the top right of your screen.
Click on Forum Security Settings in the Control Panel
Click on the name of the forum where you wish to allow post screening
Scroll down to the poster permissions sections and check allow post screening.
How it works
Think carefully before you allow post screening. All new posts, leads as well as replies will be hidden from view and need to be shown by a moderator, administrator or the board owner before they can be viewed. Depending on how busy the forum is, this could involve a lot of extra work.
Topics will show a (R) in the topic title when there is a new (hidden) post in the topic.
New lead posts will show a "hidden thread" sign on the bottom right of your screen.
Only moderators (of that forum), admins and board owner can see them.
Click 'show' in order make the topic visible to everyone.
Authors of the posts do not see their own posts until thy are shown.
Replies will be slightly dimmed and they will display a hidden sign inside the replies.
Click show to make the reply visible.
If you turn off post screening for a forum where it was turned on, you will still need to release each of the hidden posts already in the forum.
