Is there any way around this? I don't want to have to disable rss feeds and honestly even if I "hide" the links to the rss feeds many members are already subscribed so that won't help either. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Rss Feeds from Private Forums |

Hi, I have private forums for moderators and administrators. I know that when people click on the link from the feed they cannot access the actual contest of
the thread but I don't care for the fact that the rss feeds show the titles of the threads in these areas. I've searched through the forum and done the
Ctrl F5 refresh and cleared private data and everything else I can imagine. I even went to the second computer and cleared cache and such before clicking on
the feeds, and even after a re-start the thread titles still show.

Only topics show from forums you have access to.
If someone clicks RSS, they will only see topics from forums where they actually have access. Should you log out or log in with a profile that has no access to any private forums, you won't see topic titles from those forums. |

My daughter is a member of the board as well and she doesn't have access to the admin forum but on her user I could still see those topics listed? I can't see them on Internet Explorer only on Firefox. Is it something that takes "time" to go away because if not I am still seeing them? Thanks again for any help! |

Chris W962 wrote:Yes that would be fine. The above feeds posted are what I see if I use Internet Explorer but I have a live bookmark of the rss feed in my toolbar on Firefox and that is what shows these private forum topics. Thanks again for your continued help

I really can't reproduce this. I checked in seamonkey (mozilla) and am definitely not seeing posts from private forums when logged out.
I made a test post and logged out of my account, this were the top two topics I saw:
I logged back in, clicked on rss again and saw my post in your admin forum added to the top of the list.
I checked in firefox via live bookmarks, first while logged out, I could not see the topic in the private forum, then I logged in, checked through live bookmarks again and could see the topic in the feed. I logged out again, checked once again through live bookmarks and could no longer see the topic in the private forum. I will ask a couple people to test this as well, but I definitely can't reproduce it. I am not seeing topics in private forums while logged out, not the regular way and not through live bookmarks. |

Well I feel comforted to know when you log out that you can't see it. I don't understand why I can even after clearing my private data, closing the
browser and reopening it and even switching computers lol crazy for sure! I appreciate you asking others for help. I will check log out tonight and re-check in
the morning from a fresh boot without being logged in and then take screen shots if it shows up for me. Thanks again for your help.

Feel more comforted because I used Firefox above. Have you got a link for that addon and I could give that a try too?

Ok I checked from a fresh boot this morning and they aren't there. I guess all of the clearing I was doing just wasn't registering yesterday for some
reason. Thanks so much for your help and letting me know that they really weren't appearing anywhere else

No worries, it is set so that only people who have access to private forums will see the feeeds, and anything related to security, including rss feeds, get
tested regularly.
