Well, I need my beauty sleep, so I can't use her method.
But
Chris is sending me energy packs and that makes me more successful in fighting the enemy.

TigerLady wrote:ok here are some tips. You've got to put your money in the bank constantly. I never have money floating around that can be taken in an attack. When it is in the bank, they can't take it when they attack you. The 10% you pay to the bank is only a small price to keep your money safe. Also another trick.. just before you log off, fight, regardless of whether you win or lose, just fight until your health goes under 20 points. Once you are under 20 points, log off, don't do anything else. You will be considered "dead" and they can't fight you. As for the bullies, *cough* you haven't seen bullying yet, trust me. Bullying is when they gang up on you and fight you in such a way that it disables your game. Many people in those games are hardcore players and respect the rules of the game. They won't bully unless there is a reason to. If a player finds you and knows they can beat you, they'll tend to come back for more (especially if your money is exposed), that is not bullying, it's just people trying to get ahead in the game. There are several ways to deal with true bullying should you ever be a victim of it. There are four ways to play the game, you can be an energy player, a stamina player, a health player, or even out the game. Each time you level up, you get 5 points, how you spend those points determines what kind of a player you will be. If you evenly divide the points (attack, defense, stamina, energy) you build your game carefully and you have a good chance of working your way up slowly but nicely. Don't ever waste points on health under level 100. Personally I'm a stamina player, nearly all of my points go to attack and defense. It has major advantages.. you still get the experience points to level up quickly because you win more fights = more experience points. You also earn money quicker because when you win a lot, you tend to rake up loads of money. Once you get some mafia together, you need to arm each member of your mafia up to 501, no more. For example, if you have a total of 10 mafia, you need one of each weapon for each mafia, like you need 10 of everything, 10 hacksaws, 10 tommy guns, etc.. you need to fully sustain your mafia, otherwise they are useless. You can only throw 501 mafia in a fight, so if you have more than 501 mafia, you don't need to buy weapons for each one, 501 of each weapon will do. You can't invite people into your mafia unless they are on your friends list, but if you want a huge crew, it doesn't mean that you have to invite everyone and their grandmother to be on your friends list. Once they have joined your mafia you can disconnect from them as friends, a lot of people do that. This way you have your privacy back if you have a private profile, but you can still have all those mafia. For every two members who join your mafia you can buy a special weapon that is more deadly than the weapons offered the regular way. If you don't buy a special weapon for each two members who join, you lose the opportunity. You have to accept mafia two at a time in order to get full use of the special weapons offer. Energy packs: an energy pack is good for 24 hours. Don't ever use an energy pack when you're close to levelling up because then you'll just waste it because your energy gets refilled when you level up. |

I'll admit that I go to bed later since I started playing mafia wars. I don't have as much time in the daytime as I'm working, but like after 1 in the morning, that's when I really concentrate on my game, and time goes fast when you're having fun. Like every other day it is already light out when I go to bed. |

Thanks for your tips, Chris. I deposited most of my money in the bank now. I just got 5 points and I will use them mostly for attack, defense and stamina from
now on. I used to use them mostly for health and energy. I have 23 members in my Mafia. Most of them weren't even on my friends list. They asked to be my
friends and then they joined my Mafia. Most of my friends are not interested in Mafia Wars. LOL I actually I wasn't interested either at the beginning but
I got sucked into it. LOL Now that I'm in the game, I like it but it is also frustrating. With your tips though, I may be doing better.
Another thing, I fought other rival Mafia members and now my health is under 20. I left the game as you said. But when is it time for me to go to the hospital and heal myself? One more question: I've been fighting the boss a lot and winning, with all the extra perks I have to help me in the fight. Is it worth fighting him or should I rather fight with other Mafia members?

Another thing, I fought other rival Mafia members and now my health is under 20. I left the game as you said. But when is it time for me to go to the hospital and heal myself? It's best to fill your health when you're active in the game (on line) and keep it under 20 when you're off line. I just got 5 points and I will use them mostly for attack, defense and stamina from now onAttack and defense is what makes you a good stamina player. Stamina itself.. don't worry about it much until level 50 or so. It takes two points a pop, and it's not something you can automatically refill, like health so if you use it you have to wait until it refills anyways. At the lower levels, attack and defense are much more important than stamina. One more question: I've been fighting the boss a lot and winning, with all the extra perks I have to help me in the fight. Is it worth fighting him or should I rather fight with other Mafia members? It depends on whom you ask. Personally I don't do a lot of boss fights. Boss fights are good when you have the tools to beat a boss. I don't go into a boss fight unless I know I have enough tools to win it. If you lose, it's a big loss of energy. |

Thanks for the useful tips. What level are you in the Mafia Wars? I am only level 15. I am fairly new at this game, but I like it. I also play poker, but those
poker games can get pretty crazy, with very high stakes.

I've only been playing mafia wars for a couple of weeks, currently level 40. I was the # 1 space wars player for a couple of months, but then they
introduced a new gadget in the game and it wouldn't load anymore for me, I was on dial up at the time. I had to quit playing because of it and never looked
back at the game. Lol let me tell you, fighting gets super dirty at the top, hahaha
After I ditched space wars, I played Heroes vs Villains, I had a LOT of fun in that game, especially on the boards because I had openly befriended the #1 player who was hated by everyone and loved every second of it. He had exploited a loophole and gained more stamina and more energy than all the other players combined. He'd go around and kill everyone in his path. He'd especially pick out the players who had names that were related to food. Like he'd kill someone by the name of Chery, then he'd post his news feed on the board, showing that he had killed Chery, and he'd post to me saying.. "I brought you some cherries today my loyal servant" Oh man it really was a fun time, I still laugh when I think of it. I stopped playing heroes when MSN migrations came along, because I was working around the clock and didn't even have time to *think* about logging in at facebook. Never played another game until I started mafia wars two weeks ago. |

It seems like you need to devote a lot of time to this kind of games. I now have more time since I am on my summer break. But once I go back to work, my time
will be a lot more limited. I am sure that I will get killed or something when I will not have the time to play the game as often as I'd like. LOL

Nah, it takes some time to set up the game (like first 50 levels) but after that it is just maintenance, log in now and then, do your jobs, do your fights and
you can forget about it for hours. Once you're settled with stamina and energy, there isn't much to do, because you have to wait until both refill
after you've used them. I still have low stamina and energy so I try to check in once an hour, but I often forget in the daytime when I'm busy. I just
went and did some jobs, hadn't been there since this morning, lol.

Do you buy a lot of properties?
BTW, I am going on a vacation for two weeks, but I am taking my laptop with me. I hope I will be able to log into my Mafia at least once a day. |

you're hooked, lol.
I divide my income evenly over property and weapons. Still have a looong ways to go, lol. Those are my income stats: Total Income US$969,350/ hour Total Upkeep -US$115,445/ hour Cash Flow US$853,905/ hour |

OMG, you have a lot of income per hour. I never bought any weapons. I only have the ones that I won while doing jobs. But I do have some property and I am
saving money to buy some more. I only have in the bank about $700,000.But then again, I am only on level 17.

lol Bob, if I made that much an hour for real, I'd buy myself a castle on some exotic island or something.
smokie be careful, once you have some more property, you'll have to pay a lot of money to protect it. Well, you don't have to, but you can and if you don't, people can rob you more easily. When they rob your property you have to pay money to repair it and you get less income from it until it is repaired. I didn't have time yesterday to look at my game for most of the day, and when I finally went to the game late last night, I noticed that someone had robbed me, I had to pay almost 6 million between repair and new protection and I didn't have that much in the bank so I repaired it and let it sit unprotected. Just make sure to have a few million in the bank once you get more property. |

I don't have that much property, but I noticed the other day that two of them got robbed. So I had to pay insurance for them.

If you get robbed regularly you are better off not repairing or insuring your property.
It can only be robbed until it is down to 30% of its income. After that, as long as you don't repair, you'll still get 30% of your income and you can't be robbed. Some properties can never be robbed, like the empty lots, those are not available to robbing, ever. Oh and my game is broken, I can't send gifts anymore. I barely logged on yesterday but when I finally did late at night, they had a maintenance period. When the game came back, I had lost the ability to send gifts. Took a quick look at the help forums and people are real mad about it and they say that this was done on purpose that it is not a bug. Apparently people with large mafia were exploiting that feature (I have no idea how or what the advantage of that would be) But, coincidentally, all players who have over 500 mafia members have lost the ability to send gifts. If it really is true that they disabled it on purpose, then I'm done playing, because the ability to give and help out the lower level mafia members was one of the most fun parts. |

Not being able to give gifts sucks. I am on vacation right now so I haven't played Mafia Wars in days. I hope that this is just a glitch. |

hmm they were saying it was only affecting people with mafia of over 500. My gifting option is still broken, it worked for a half hour and then broke again.
People are screaming about that one, because three of the achievements involve gifting and people can't do their achievements now.

If I have time, I will try to send gifts from Mafia to see if that feature works for me. |
