Just catching up on some reading here:

A couple of posts up, I'd proposed an option where admins could choose between having the posts deleted, hidden, or left alone. I'd like to modify that to four options: deleted, hidden, left visible and locked, or left alone.

.....this wouldn't work for me.

I'm getting hit and hit hard with spam.
I have my board MBA to posting, but it's open to viewing. I WILL NOT CLOSE IT TO BOTH because I have seniors who are interested in my board and would like to view before coming on.

.....but because I have my board closed to posting, spam is being dumped by leaps and bounds into my pm box where they (or anyone) needs to apply for membership.

At least my members don't have to put up with this.
.....but I can and do ban the IP's from the spammers by using my stats thingy at the bottom of my board.

Now, much of it has slown down. They only hit me once or twice a day.
Yes, I have to monitor my board closely to catch them to get the IP's because they come on anonymously.
But it's working.

The other option is to make the boards, with repeat issues with spam, MBA at least for a while until he gives up.

.....it's a partial MBA but for me that's ok. I'm here most of the day anyhow and do catch them. They're notorious in changing their IP numbers but I still catch them as fast as they do.
I have that link below bookmarked and used it to a point, but much of the IP's their using aren't on the list.

I unbanned the numbers when I think they're finished with them so there's no problem. It seems to be working.
