Using Firefox "Stylish"

Posts: 8 4-Jul-09 2:06 AM	Tags : None I know there's a way to do this, but I've lost my settings when I got a new computer. Could anyone point me in the direction of the proper CSS to use with Firefox's Stylish plugin to make a yuku site that I don't have admin rights to - in order to make it look like I want, without forcing it on anyone else? Either that, or is there a Yuku setting that will let me use my own site style to view a specific board in the way I want? (and not an overall "use my style on every board" type setting) All I'm wanting to do is change everything to grayscale, because the site I like uses so much purple that my eyes bleed. Thanks in advance.

As an added hint, if you surf a number of Yuku boards, it might pay to add this style: Yuku: tame large fonts in Firefox It adds a line of CSS that addresses a Firefox bug that popped up a couple of versions ago: posts were randomly appearing in super-large fonts. Many board admins have added the code to their own boards, but certainly, others haven't. I don't know if Firefox 3.5 has fixed the bug or not.

Posts: 8 4-Jul-09 5:25 PM	Thanks muchly! Remembered what I did last time too. Went and found a grayscale skin, and put the code in stylish with a lot of added "!important"s to the end of the statements in order for it to work.

Posts: 2205 4-Jul-09 6:39 PM munificent member	If your old computer is still around and still has your old Firefox profile available, you can go in and find files named stylish.rdf and stylish sqlite, then copy them to your new profile. That might save a bunch of reconstruction. If the new computer screams about ownership or permissions for these files, open up new files in a plain text editor (e.g. Notepad in Windows), name them stylish.rdf and stylish sqlite, paste the contents of the old files into the new ones, and move them into your profile. Actually, I think grabbing stylish.rdf might be enough. That's the file that contains your CSS. stylish sqlite is a relatively new addition. I wouldn't be surprised if Stylish regenerated a new one for you, saving a bit of work. And yes, using "!important" is a major key to getting Stylish to do its thing.
