Member cannot post threads or reply to existing threads

He has not been able to post a new thread or reply to an existing thread since June 2009. He can log in and use private messaging, but every time he starts a thread or replies to an existing thread and hits "post," it logs him out and he loses everything he's typed.
He's a registered user and everything in his profile seems to be fine.
His operating system is Windows XP and he uses Internet Explorer. (I know, I know. He seems pretty unwilling to switch to another browser, though.)
I cannot find a similar post thread here in support that addresses this issue, so I'm posting it here and apologize if there's another thread that does explain how to fix the problem. I'm concerned that he's probably not the only person who has experienced this problem: just the only one who has complained about it. He's been a pretty active user in the past and I'd hate to lose him, but I honestly have no idea what else can be done to fix the issue. Please help!
