Posts: 8 7-Nov-09 7:03 AM	Tags : None For the christmas profile I would really like to have a font that is more like hand writing . I have downloaded a font to my hard drive and put it in my font folder and ive typed what I wanted onto an office document and tried to copy it in the space where i want it to go.. but it pushes all my pictures off. I am a complete idiot with all this lol.. but have realised that somehow it must be copying more than just the words? that it might be the size of a document, (sorry not explaining this very well) but i dont know from here how to (cos I have never used office or paint etc for anything nd really havent a clue what i am doing) size it so that it as minimal as possible or if there is a programme like microsoft pint i can do it from or i have paint shop pro photos x2 on a pc that i will have a play with if i know i could then do it from there .. but if anyone has done this and knows how i cn do it i would be so grateful? ps. I did think about tking a screen shot and playing around but although i might be able to work out eventually how to put this on microsoft pin and crop the bit i dont need im not sure i can add text? sorry this is so long..............

The limitation is which fonts readers have installed on their systems. If you're using an unusual font, chances are that the person viewing your page won't see it. You get around the issue by offering the visitor more than one option. You can give your HTML element a class and style it externally, or you can include your font in an inline style. Style sheet samples: p {font-family:"Times New Roman",Georgia,Serif;} .intro {font-family:"Times New Roman",Georgia,Serif;} Inline style samples: <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",Georgia,Serif;">Your Content</span> <p style="font-family:"Times New Roman",Georgia,Serif;">Your Content</p> In the samples above, users that don't have Times New Roman will (hopefully) see Georgia. If they don't see Georgia, they'll see the default Serif font designated in their web browsers. List your unusual font first, list some more common fonts next, then list a generic at the end. Generics would include serif, sans-serif, cursive, fantasy, monospace. Note that fonts with multiple-word names go in quotation marks. EDIT: I missed the sizing part; it's forthcoming. Posts: 2205 7-Nov-09 8:51 AM munificent member	If you're not happy with the size in which your font displays, you can change it. Font sizes can be measured in pixels, points, percentages, or ems. Pixels need to be handled with care because Internet Explorer doesn't deal with them very well. Points should be avoided entirely (unless you're setting something up specifically for print; Yuku doesn't offer the ability to offer print style sheets). When I need to change the font size on anything other than the base font size of the document, I like to use ems (e.g. 1.2 em). This lets you "bump" the font up and down pretty easily. 1em would be like not changing the font size at all. 1.1 em would bump it up a bit; .9em would bump it down a bit. Use trial and error until you hit on the size you like. Posts: 8 7-Nov-09 10:14 AM	ok and many thanks for the reply... lol it might take me ages to work out what that all means... but i shall be having a look in the wysiwyg part of the edit and customize profile where it says font..and see if i cant work it out.. cos i have to tell you that i can just about turn the pc on <gg> and this is like learning a foreign language from a little dictionary type thing for me lol.. i get the part where others cant see if they dont have the same fonts and thats a really good idea to give them an option. again many thanks for your help... xx
