It seems as though the people who are @ez and used to have an "ez" icon beside their username now have an "e" icon beside their username.
Is this the only change to these accounts or have further changes been made? Seeing as it wasn't mentioned in the push announcement (well ok, the polls
announcement)...

cedar wrote: That's the scary thing Cedar! The other scary thing is that the folks on my regular boards don't seem to have noticed, and one board even has the tiny icon blocked somehow....anyone could make a local "me" on there and there would be no way to tell short of checking the profile....and I'm sure there are plenty of people who could hack my profile for the necessary info to impersonate me! This feature has really gotta go! Has anyone in power realized this danger yet? Do they even care?

You know, StitchinKat, you could just create the profile with your own name at that local board if you're really that concerned.
In all honesty, I really don't think that folks are in that much danger of being impersonated unless they're a direct target for such and someone's hell bent on causing trouble for that person. And most of those who would be in the crosshairs are going to either be very outspoken people, admins of boards (who would have the ability to ban the individual's local impersonation account *and* their main account), and probably the names of the Yuku staff. Granted, it's something to think about though. |

I don't think it's possible to create a local account with the exact same name if *you* are already a member of the board. Oh, but it just occured to
me that if you used a different email address it would work.
As we
learned on ezboard with the great crash a couple of years ago, anyone can sneak in and do great damage if they are so inclined....
It just makes me very uncomfortable to know that someone with the inclination could target me....sort of like the issue of identity theft and someone stealing my credit rating and ruining it.......and there sure are plenty of people out there in the world who might do *that* (otherwise why worry about stolen credit cards, ss numbers and such) so that's why I worry about id theft online.......it's not likely to happen, but if it did, it could become a royal pain!

this might be me being dumb again but when i use ezboard and click on my user name it takes me to my migrated profile here at yuku as im migrated over, this
morning i created the same user name but did this on the main page and under a different email addy to the one i use when i log in here with my migrated
account.

Shira, it does that because the ezboard profile automatically links to [username].u.yuku.com and you just created that .u. profile. My ezboard profile takes me
to my totally new mouse yuku profile too -- not to my original mouse profile that is now mouse.ez.yuku.com. This is why I created a new profile as
mouse.u.yuku.com, because otherwise my ezboard profile link would point at someone else's profile. No good! It's a pretty big glitch.

This just gets worse. Would be nice if one of the powers that be acknowedged this in some way and let us know if it is going to be kept as it is or if they are
going to make major changes and if so what. At the moment our concerns are just being totally ignored. I obviously don't mean by the mod staff as they seem
as concerned as we are but by those that have the power to put things right.
It's not only the mischief that could be caused though, it's the fact that most of us on ezboard loved the global accounts and having a unique user name. Local accounts being kept to the local board didn't affect anyone else. It's also the confusion. It's hard enough keeping up with those that use several user names without having usernames that could be the same but different people. We need to know how or if this is going to be addressed. If this has been addressed in a different thread already then I appologise as this is the first thread I have visited here today. |

Thanks cedar i thought it was me being dumb and missing something that is a dangerous glitch any one could have our username and put anything in that profile
for people on ezboard to read!!
They need to sort this fast i have been here to long for it to make a huge impact on me but the people who have been promised that there accounts are safe and are all ready against yuku and dislike it here are going to stumble on this problem this is not going to help convince people to give yuku a chance it will make them run. I'm going to have to try and fix this new account first chance i can because if one of them clicks on my name there it wont add up how i can have posts in the hundreds be migrated but yet have a join date of today more alarm bells are going to ring over there, and im sure im not the only one then that will be having this problem with there ez/yuku accounts!. |

Actually, its inconsistent - my ezmish profile for instance does redirect correctly to ezmish.ez.yuku.com but obviously there is an error somewhere if
we're seeing these crazy results. I have one of our developers working on this now.

cedar wrote:Cedar, I noticed the same thing that Shira mentioned today when reading one of my boards that is still on ezboard....when you click on my screen name there, it takes you to the yuku clone I made rather than the StitchinKat@ ez profile that it should go to. Not good is right! There is nothing there (except the profile link to Yuku Team in my friends list, which I could not remove, so I blocked). I want it set back to my main profile (the ez one) How can I do that? I asked at the EZ help board but have not gotten a response. Everything was going so smoothly....why did this muck up have to happen? eta: I just went to my old ezboard account and edited the profile to click off the link to the clone, so now it goes to my ezboard profile instead, with a link added to go to the yuku StitchinKat @ez profile.....maybe that will be less confusing for other people visiting my profile from the ezboards.

StitchinKat, I think that is the best solution for now, what you did with your ezboard profile and putting a link in there.
