I've pretty much delayed it till now, mostly because I have little time to take out the excess code and sort out the layout on my test board. So, my
question is, now that the link has come up in Announcements where I can upgrade, how will the process happen? Will I still need to work out the layout in Yuku
(I have a sidebar and some extra html formatting so it looks like my main website, colours etc) Or will the transfer only copy over stuff that works in Yuku?
Not entirely sure how the forum will look on yuku!

Hey Catherine
Your skin layout wouldn't copy over, but we'd be happy to help set you up with a skin that comes as close as possible to your current skin. The shoutbox in your sidebar would have to be replaced with the shoutbox script that is in the script library here. It may be a bit different than what you're using now, but it's still a shoutbox. Other than that, your board layout and theme seems pretty straightforward to replicate for Yuku. I'd be happy to make a start on that for you, so that you've got an idea of what it'd look like. I'll have some time this weekend to do that for you. For any skin related questions, there's http://skins.yuku.com. Board settings, private forums, member settings, admin settings... those things all translate over smoothly during the upgrade. Posts are all moved across, in their respective forums with the settings that you have in place (stickies, locked, etc). Your members will also automatically be "migrated" to Yuku, so that they don't have the hassle of having to re-register. Member accounts are duplicated to Yuku. Their post count at that time will be duplicated too, but it won't add on new posts that are made at ezboard. From the moment of upgrade the two accounts become separate accounts. Posts at Yuku will add to the Yuku post count total, and posts at ezboard will add to the ezboard post count total. People going to your ezboard url will be redirected immediately to Yuku after the upgrade, so that you don't have two boards happening simultaneously. The redirect will also be in place for those who have your link via google or other boards. When you are ready to make the upgrade, you put in a ticket at http://www.yuku.com/help/ticket and staff will help with the next part. Anyway, I hope this helps? |

Well, generally most of your layout will transfer on migration. There are a few things that may not be able to translate well, but it should pretty much...
Generally most people are advised if they have a test board at Yuku to get the skins ready to go before migration. That way if, for instance, the sidebar has a little bit of a conflict you already have it sorted out, otherwise, you can always go to Skins and CSS for any problems or questions that come up during migration. |

Ok, that sounds fine to me
I'll put some time aside to sort it out as I go along. I didn't think the skin would go over, as it's html from my
website which I added myself.
I guess the only thing other concern that made me wait was members being very unsure about having Yuku accounts, some of them found them a little confusing. Will they have both for a while? I don't want them to panic that they have lost their Ezboard accounts while trying to get used to their Yuku ones...... Thanks very much Catherine |

Any of the colours and images your forums use (that are set in the custom images or custom colours pages of your control panel) will be recreated as skins on
Yuku and applied to the correct forums, but custom headers and footers (sidebars, scripts, css) aren't currently imported as they simply wouldn't work.
We are working on that though.

Cazie wrote: Global accounts will be able to use ezboard AND yuku. Their post count comes across upon the time of the upgrade, but from thereon the two are separated, so
that the global member has an account at ezboard AND an account at Yuku. Ezboard supporter doesn't transfer to Yuku.
Local ezboard accounts, however, will become unavailable since their local account gets redirected to Yuku. So local users won't have access to their inboxes anymore after the upgrade. They will need to save their inboxes if that is important to them. Since local ezboard accounts are part of your ezboard and do not allow the local user to post at other ezboards, the inbox thing is perhaps an inconvenience but shouldn't affect their use of your board. |

Oh -- and while I was playing today --
http://cedartests.yuku.com/ It's just a quick version, it's by no means complete or anything. But it will give you an idea of what is possible. |

Wow, Cedar, yeah, that's an excellent conversion so far! at least it would give me something to tweak and work with. I take it I get to make sure it's
ok before the Ezboard one is closed off........
Thanks Cedar |

What you can do already, is go to your ezboard, then to your community admin page, click on "theme management" and export your theme and smilies. You
can save these to your computer and have those as a backup. That way you will always have a point of reference for the skins.
I will clean up the code for you and then I'll send it to you via PM. |

System Error
I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that there seems to be a problem with this URL. The good news is that you have just found it and notified our geeks on duty to fix it. Thank you for both. LOL |

Huh?? It's opening just fine for me. *scratches head* Let me repost it in case there was some kind of additional space or something:
link Alternatively, go back to that first ticket link, and just put a dash, or www.yuku.com in the url area. Place your ezboard url in the description area. |

No, the page is loading fine, but when I put the url of my Ezboard in, that's what it comes up with.
Don't worry about it, I have to log off now, I'll chase it up in the next few days.........I won't have much time between now and Thurs. Thanks for your help, I'll pop back later in the week....... Catherine |

Okay
One last thought on the reason for that error. When I tried that link with a request to upgrade a board, I was logged into a different profile at Yuku than the one that owns the ezboard I wanted to import. I was logged in at Yuku with Cedar, but the ezboard ezOp is Mouse. So I had to first log into Mouse before I could get the upgrade request in. |
