From what I've read they put up some sort of announcement on the board, or just let the ezOP know, a week before it is moved. I got no notice, as a user,
that it was to be done.

'Let the ezOp know' how? And do they ensure that the Admins are also informed, and are able to take action if the ezOp is away for over a week?
As a member, fine, it's up to the Admins of the board to inform me (or not) - I wouldn't expect Yuku/Ezboard to do that. As an Admin though, whether I'm the ezOp or not, I would expect to be told, and to be able to do something about it if the board isn't ready to move yet. Which does raise another question. If I do say 'we're not ready yet' - what happens then? Obviously, it's not going to go on indefinitely... so how long before you're in danger of being moved again? I'd also appreciate some sort of update on the issues I raised above in response to Kristin's question. Let me make it clear: if all of the things in that list were implemented tomorrow, I'd apply to move my board the next day (we're in one of those lulls now). I am not opposed to Yuku - I just don't want to move until it has all the old Ezboard features that are important to me. It doesn't seem to me to be too much to ask to expect that an 'upgrade' will do everything the old version did, only better. That's what an 'upgrade' is. Yuku is not at that stage yet, for the reasons I've given. (Though, yes, it does most other things better, or at least equally well, which is fair enough). |

I'm not sure how you can reply and ask to wait longer?
The message appeared on my board that it'll be upgraded to Yuku. I still don't feel comfortable with the idea of my board being upgraded until Yuku comes out of beta. |

One of our admins got an email with a link to the ticket that we were being imported within the week. We don't know if the ezop requested it because
she'd been absent for years. It would seem unlikely she requested it. I also trust that my other admins would not request the move without telling the rest
of us.
I'm happy with yuku, but I do realize that not having the avatars on the post page takes some getting use to! It would be nice if it was an option to turn on or off or something that could be used with CSS modifications. I kind of like not having them now though.

We voted for it on my board whether or not to move. They voted to move when they realized they can have bigger avatars, the have can have multiple sigs, image
hosting, post YouTube vids (or flash vids), and a boat load of other things.
Considering what they had two years ago and what they have now? It's a big swing in the right direction. |

We came over early simple because we just didn't see the point in waiting. We knew we would have to move eventually so I got all our members over here to
have a play on a test board and get used to it, then when I knew they could find their way around I put in to move once all of our staff had agreed it was
time.

number of times I've complained about that feature not being present I'm pretty sure somebody would have corrected me by now if it really were present...

Professor Tibble, it is by no means perfect, but at my test board I tried
.user-avatar img {height: 200px; width: 200px;}
and that increases the avatar size on the boards. The downside is that the avatars themselves are still forced to be 100x100, which makes the image pixellated at best. That can again be corrected by using css to remove a particular user's avatar, and replacing it with something else. You can see examples of the above at my test board. http://cedartests.yuku.com/topic/400 The avatar for Arizona is an enlarged 100x100 avatar -- enlarged by the code mentioned above. The avatar for mouse is by replacing the avatar for mouse with an image: http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/3751584074d64f8608e33c2b2c8a3f95f02d8b0.jpg The code that I used for that was
.mouse .user-avatar img {display: none;}
.mouse .user-avatar { background: url(http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/3751584074d64f8608e33c2b2c8a3f95f02d8b0.jpg) center center no-repeat; padding-left: 300px; width:200px; height:300px;} As you can see I used the width and height to determine the size I wanted displayed (200x300), and I used padding to position the image best. It would take some finicking though if you've got a lot of members all wanting a large custom avatar at your board, because you'd have to add the code for each person individually, and depending on your board skin, adjust some other bits too. However, if you're wanting to try this out on your board, let me know and I'd be happy to come help set it up. |

There would be over a hundred users to do, with at least a dozen new ones every few months... not to mention that some of them like to change their avatars
like they change their socks! To be fair to your sanity as well as mine, that sounds like rather too much work!
I really don't see why it should be so much harder at Yuku than it is at Ezboard, though... it is supposed to be an upgrade, right? I just want my members to have the same good experience at Yuku they already have at Ezboard; given the amount of effort they go into to create these avatars, I really don't want to have to tell them 'tough luck - the new, improved system is too hard to use'.

I think 100x100 is a better than 60x60

100 x100 is certainly better than 60 x 60 but it would be much nicer to have a clickable choice rather than messing about with css.

Well, yes, xwpweb. But Ezboard allows them to be much larger than 100x100 (I think the limit is something like 400x400, although I don't recall exactly),
which Yuku does not - at least not without the sort of problems Cedar is talking about. That's the difference; Ezboard has a standard size for avatars, but
allows individual users to increase it as they wish, while Yuku forces you to use a specific size whether you like it or not. This is what I would regard as a
typical quality Ezboard avatar:
There's no practical way that you can display that as an avatar at Ezboard. Well, not if you've got 100+ members, anyway. (I'm not even clear if Cedar's solution can be entered just once per board even if you have 20 different forum skins, as we do, or if it would allow 'historic' avatars - even if it does its a headache compared with the Ezboard method). It's a key part of the look of my board, and until I can duplicate the look of my board at Yuku, I'm not ready to move over. Otherwise, I'd transfer my board tomorrow if I could... |
