We're getting cloudy now. The moon rose through misty-ish clouds and it was so big and beautiful and a spooky orangey color... *dreamy sigh*

We have mostly clear skies... just a few clouds here and there.
Unfortunately it's colder than cold... our high was 16 degrees today. I do plan on running out briefly and seeing it before running back in. |

Yeah, it's still got about an hour to go before it's a total eclipse (now I'm going to have the Bonnie Tyler song stuck in my head).

I got this in my head: Moon Over Parma by Robert McGuire - Sung by Drew Carey Moon over Parma, bring my love to me tonight. Guide her to Cleveland, underneath your silvery light. We're going bowlin' so don't loose her in Solon. Moon over Parma, tonight! |

Moon over Parma....
We used to sing that one when we'd drive to Parma or Solon when we lived in Cleveland. We couldn't help ourselves
Then of course I couldn't help but singing Cleveland Rocks while driving down I 90 after Dead Man's Curve (the opening credits was shot on I 90 west... I think it was west... right after going by Jacob's Field) |

Oh my God! The eclipse is soooo cool!
I hope you get some good pictures, Bob. I had film in my camera, but for one it's not digital, and for two, my shutter is sticking. It shouldn't make too much of a difference being it's night and hopefully I didn't move the camera too much to blur it. I need a new camera... it's just so old it isn't working so well. |

I've have a halfway decent digi, film will two weeks before the pics come back, and the quality of the digital scans you can get from lab won't be any
better for displaying on the net than a digital cam.

I know... but I have a thing for film. I'm old fashioned. I know digitals are as good, but I just think film is better. I'm crazy, I know... I know...

I have a very good 35mm also, I know what you mean about film.We can chat about photography
some time, if we can get ChrisW to shut up. I'll have a pic up in about 10 min or 11:30 est |

I found one on a Google search. But it's a little off centered and the camera's aperture wasn't open enough I think. (Obviously digital as it was
up pretty quick so I wouldn't expect it's got an aperture control) as it was a bit too dark on the one edge.
Don't even get me going on photography, Bob. It was one of my first loves. I'm so old fashioned my favorite camera is a Pentax ME... I loathe auto focus cameras and like the ability to swap lenses and hold the shutter open (and of course the aperture controls )
Had to edit, it was the ME I learned to shoot on, it was the one I prefered, I have an MV that I don't like quite as much, but better than an automatic camera.

That is a beautiful shot Bob!
Though not centered, it doesn't matter, you got stars and I think that is Saturn on the left. The one I found that wasn't centered didn't have anything much showing in the picture to the left, the person was obviously trying to get the stars, but they didn't pick up. Like I said, the aperture had to be closed too much, the camera probably wasn't designed compensate for night photography very well.

Thanks.
We had some haze too so it softened everything, we got lucky it cleared up as much as it did. At 7 pm I wasn't sure i would get much more than a dull glow. This part of the country really isn't good for night sky, too many light from cities close by. I should've dragged the tripod and the film camera out. |
