Alison -- it's this part. Can you just clarify this? It's from the FAQs page. Thanks! For example, in the image above, all logged in profiles will NOT see ads. Unregistered vistors WILL see ads.

I really appreciate all the explaining, it's helped a great deal
(im a bit hard headed at times..lol) One thing I am still curious about though. Alison,
you said if you have supporter, that you don't see ads on other boards, but I do, is that a settings problem? Thanks again!

sounds like a bug - you can put in a ticket for attention to that problem.
Lininct, you have to read that statement in relation to the page that it's on. You need to look at the image that is showing, as that is what it's describing. Unregistered users will see ads in that example because the logged out members box is NOT checked. And as the text above the image reads... "If you have an over 50k view board, then you can additionally control who sees ads and who doesn't. Using the menu item Ads Settings you can choose to show ads to some members based on criteria. Where a box is checked, this indicates that ads are NOT shown." |

It is about a veiled way of charging yuku customers a lot more money than we used to pay on ezboard. I totally agree with this. If this complicated payment structure isn't going to bring Yuku in more money than on ezboard there would be no need for such a confusing system. We do have added features here including hosting so fine, put up the price to reflect the extras, but why not be honest about it. |

Please explain to me how this is complicated. For every $5 that any person donates to a board, that person gets $1 donated to their own yuku supporter. I
don't think that I can explain it in any simpler terms.
When 10 people donate money to a board, all 10 people benefit from that, rather than just one. This is more benefical to our users than ezboard ever was. Considering that many boards on ezboard had ezops that did not run their own boards, or they had secret or unused ezop accounts. The benefits of free ezSupporter were lost on them. |

But people who only have one profile, don't have more than one or two sigs and really only post on Gold boards and don't really care one way or the other about being anon, what's the incentive to go for Supporter for them? If they aren't seeing ads on boards anyway and don't go to profiles very often, why bother with Supporter? For me, an admin on a Gold board, the answer is pretty much "To contribute to the board." I do care about being anon, but not the other things you listed. The extra storage space for PMs with Supporter was nice at ezboard. Here, I'm not so sure. I've had trouble using my yuku mailbox. Admins do so many of the page views that if an admin has Supporter, fundraising is easier when it's time to roll out the Community Chest - renewal will be cheaper. Most members don't contribute. Extracting $300 from a group is easier than extracting $400 from the same group. Supporter needs to have something more appealing to it to make average poster want to buy it.Right, if the poster uses mostly Gold boards. Then the question is, what do posters want? They probably want different things. Maybe the optimal solution is a Chinese-menu approach. Don't give all the features to every member by default. For example, let a nonpaying membership include either a blog or a friends list, but not both (or three items from a list of six, or whatever). Set up Supporter so that its purchaser can have a blog AND a friends list AND a bunch of profiles AND a big mailbox. |

That's not an incentive to get Supporter.
Besides, why punish the non Supporter by taking things away that are already here? Ezboard did that... and it wasn't one of my happier moments with them. The drive (for those of us who have been here for a year or more) that Yuku seems to have is not take things away, but add. |

That's not an incentive to get Supporter.Whatever moves some people to get Supporter is an incentive for them, not necessarily for anyone else. For some, being anonymous is a powerful lure. Or a person might really hate asking members for money; in that case, reducing the charge for the next year of Gold would look good. The drive (for those of us who have been here for a year or more) that Yuku seems to have is not take things away, but add. What benefits could be added, then? There are so many features now, I can't think of anything that's missing. Maybe Supporters could go to the head of the line at bugbase and have their problems taken care of sooner. |

Alison -- this is where it gets confusing...
One year of Gold = $54 for 20 people; One year of Supporter for 20 people = $240. And Yuku's best case scenario, that people buy both. So, for the same board it is $294. |

If those people do not use other boards, then in that scenario they needn't buy yuku supporter.

no, you mean except for that whole "if your MEMBERS buy gold YOU get free supporter".
Yep, it's true, that's no longer there. However if YOU buy gold, then you DO get free supporter. The length of which depends on the amount you paid. |

Supporter needs to have something more appealing to it to make average poster want to buy it.As silly as this sounds, when our board was on ezBoard, the fact that members could help keep board costs down was appealing. And the idea of getting a few more toys was appealing. But what grabbed more attention than anything else was the cool ezSupporter icon by people's usernames. It was like kids getting gold stars on their homework. |

No matter what Alison is saying and no matter how she is saying it, the fact of the matter is that yuku is more expensive than ezboard. Even though you're
paying more, you're getting less for your money. Whatever free yuku supporter you get, it's only valid for your board only. I couldn't care less
since I spend most of my yuku time at my own board. But I'm sure this is a big inconvenience for a lot of people.

Sorry if this has been covered in this thread but it's so long now I might have missed it if it has, but...........
When a member donates x amount of dollars to a gold board they get x amount of days free supporter. Now, with supporter comes extra perks such as extra user names, extra signatures, more hosting etc etc. After those few free supporter days are up what happens to any extra user names that member might have created on the account? What happens to any extra signatures and so on? Are they deleted by the system when the free supporter runs out. Or do those free supporter days only come with ad free experience on all boards and not the extra perks a paid for supporter comes with? |
