RSS Feeds

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way you can subscribe to a feed from a web page or web site. RSS is a type of file that is automatically updated when information is added to your community. In Yuku we use RSS to allow you to subscribe to your favorite Profiles, message boards, and blogs. In fact you can subscribe to message board forums and threads as well.

You can subscribe to any of the rss feeds on any yuku community by clicking the rss icon and then copying the url. You place that url into an rss reader, feed reader or aggregator. Some Browsers can also read rss feeds directly. If you do not have a news reader program, they are easy to find, and many are free to download.

The benefits of using rss are that you can get updates on new topics and posts on your communities straight to your desktop.

Subscribing to Yuku RSS Feeds

Wherever you see an RSS subscription logo image you can subscribe to an RSS feed on Yuku. In order to subscribe to an RSS feed you will need to have an RSS reader. It is like a web browser but it reads and displays RSS feeds. In fact with Firefox and other browsers you can add an RSS reader to the browser. Microsoft's IE v6.x does not support RSS. Here is a list of some popular RSS readers:

Web: Reddit - Check all your feeds from any web browser.
Mac OS X: NetNewsWire
Windows: SharpReader
Linux: Straw

Each aggregator has a different method of subscribing and there are help files with each editor. The usual method of subscribing to an RSS feed is to click on the RSS icon on the page you want to subscribe to and tell the RSS aggregator where you want to save the RSS feed.
