Posts: 17 30-Apr-08 6:35 AM	As an admin, I'm loving the ability for my users to give post reports, but I don't remember to always check this and finally do think to look in once a week. Today I logged into the admin console and checked my post reports in there from about 4 days ago that dealt with an issue in a thread that has now generated a lot more discussion since the time of the report. I would have liked to have dealt with the issue earlier, at the time of reporting, but I had no idea that something had been reported. I don't think that the Post Report feature is going to be anywhere near as useful as it could be if admins aren't provided some notification when reports are made. I wonder how many communities/admins out there have had posts reported but don't even know what this feature is or how to check it?

ADMINISTRATOR Posts: 5100 30-Apr-08 8:35 AM Kudos Lady of the night	Hi Acky12, There are two different kinds of post reports. You can either use a script, or enable the 'allow post reports' on your domain display preferences page. The one on the display preferences page, which is the one you have enabled, does not send messages with notification. However, when you go to the page where you can view the reports, you could copy this URL and give it to your moderators. Moderators will be able to access that page, although they won't be able to access any other locations in your admin panel. Should you give the URL to the mods, they could help keeping an eye out for the reports. The other option is to use the script that allows post reports. With this one, a message gets sent to the support account of the board when there is a post report. To find it, click on script library in your admin menu.

Posts: 17 1-May-08 9:07 AM	I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly, but I thought I applied the script, but it's not working. I added the following to my Custom Footer: <reportpost move="true"></reportpost> <reportpost button="Report" auto="false"> Spam Post Personal Abuse Privacy Violation Copyright Violation </reportpost> The report button moves accordingly, but not only does it not send a message to the support account, it also gives me a nice javascript error on the page. Posts: 17 1-May-08 9:25 AM	I put in only the large chunk that you just posted... and i still get a script error. There's no such error when I remove all of the text completely. And don't I need both the first line and the large chunk? In order to move the button & get the new link to be a drop down? The page reloads and jumps down to the reply that I'd just clicked, but the post isn't actually reported. 2) If there's no where else I need to apply it... and I've put in the right lines of code... why am I still getting a Javascript error on the page (which goes away if I remove the post report code) JS error points to this line of code: YUKU.reportPost.init('http://unjoe.yuku.com', options, "Report", 0, );

I even created a special forum to test in and no matter what I do I get no notice in the support account. Could this have something to do with the fact that I (an admin) am the one reporting the post? Here is a link to that forum. It is invisable and only set up to allow admins to use it.

Just put the script in the skin of the forum where you wish to use it. I can not get this to send a notice to the support account when Report Post is done. I asked if, since I'm attempting to run the post reports script instead of the Yuku-offered one, if I should disable the Yuku one in favor of the script. I was told that I didn't need to have both running. I disabled the Yuku-offered one and it stopped the script-generated reports from working. So I turned on the Yuku-post reports back on. Now the script-generated post reports link allows for the reporting of posts. Can you please link me to a forum where you have the script running? I'll test report. I have the following code: <reportpost button="Report" auto="false"> Spam Post Personal Abuse Privacy Violation Copyright Violation </reportpost> input in the CUSTOM FOOTER box of my "NJOE Default" skin which is applied on EVERY FORUM on my board except for the "Invincible Spoilers." Here's a link- http://unjoe.yuku.com/forums/29 Weird, I couldn't get it to work. We'll need Chris to take a look at it. Cause I don't get it. The only code I was told to input on my board is the code that I pasted above. No where in that is any mention of triggering a message to the support account. Yet isn't that supposed to be one of the highlights of the script? Nor does the code seem to work - my interpretation is that "Report Post" is supposed to become a drop down button like "Topic Tools" is with the above options, but that doesn't happen. There was a version of the script that moved the Report Post link from the "Interact" menu next to the "Quote" text/button, but I was told to remove this. And I still have a script error when using Internet Explorer. I'm thinking this script is broken. Could it have been written/designed with a prior version of the yuku code?

ADMINISTRATOR Posts: 5100 6-May-08 10:51 AM Kudos Lady of the night	I asked if, since I'm attempting to run the post reports script instead of the Yuku-offered one, if I should disable the Yuku one in favor of the script. I was told that I didn't need to have both running. I disabled the Yuku-offered one and it stopped the script-generated reports from working. ahh I see (I was only on my first cup of tea when I replied earlier. Disabling the one offered in the display preferences shouldn't stop the other one from working. I had problems with the script on John's board as well. Will test on a couple of boards and let you know.

I had to remove the Staff on Line Script because it started dropping part of the script and messing up the board. Is is possible that the designers have made some change that is causing a problem with these scripts?

Go to your Control Center by clicking Admin then click on Post Reports
