My speed is really fast for my crappy little computer
I normally got good speeds too, but it must be amazing on a computer that's not a dinosaur! Thumbs
up from me too

Why would the move to a datacenter that is further away from the office, is connected through the same ISP running through the old physical location, hosts the
same servers - make yuku boards run faster? I still haven't quite understood why the move would solve any problem but be an opportunity to save money for
other things.
Btw, speaking only for myself, right now "my board" and this place runs slower than yesterday. But I wouldn't assume this is a general result of the move and only temporary. EDIT: wanted to add this: Despite the negativity I also want to give a kudo to Yuku techs, as the move really did go very smooth and faster than promised from a users perspective! Good job! Really liked the fact you served a page telling about the maintenance instead of just nothingness!

the connections (the backbone) are likely more robust. the servers are talking to one another faster...if things behind the router are moving faster then
ultimately you will experience a better connection. no more "waiting on images yuku.com" etc

Speed is related to so many things, but the biggest thing is how the colo handles the load. As lasher said, the new one probably has better capabilities for
handling it.
Back in the days when I worked for an ISP, we moved our Pennsylvania server to Ohio because we could just handle the load better in our colo in Cleveland rather than rural Pennsylvania. Our system was better and our lines were faster (and our sys admin was in Cleveland... no more finding him asleep in the lobby after making a 3 hour drive in the middle of the night to Pennsylvania to fix the server ) and all together more stable. We had more 'doors' in for
them and a faster network to get the information traveling around through. It really does help a lot sometimes just to move where your servers are located if
the new place can handle the traffic better.

What time did the system come back up? Please state the time zone too please.
My board is still down (posted it as a separate topic and opened a ticket). |

That's funny... I wandered online right at that time... good timing on my part
Course I hadn't had my coffee yet so I might not have noticed it had
come back up

The speed on my board is about the same, if not a tad slower. It was really slow a little while ago. |

My speed seems to be back to normal, but it was dragging earlier and I couldn't access this board at all.

It was wonky when the servers came back up, but it's been improving steadily since then.

Ours is up and running, except for the photobucket issues (as already noted in Bugs by others). So, all in all, good job!

Most issues have been fixed now, including photobucket.
I've updated the problems thread. http://support.yuku.com/topic/8290 |
