Forum Find Has Everything BUT Yuku Boards |

What's up with that? There's all sorts of rubbish in Forum Find coming straight from the net. I have yet to find a Yuku board.

I now I just realised. I do hope its not a permanent change cos if it is then I think there's a problem.

Me, too, YR. I'm finding all sorts of boards; just located the first Yuku board after about 40 searches. Not good at all; I'm NOT a happy camper. If
this is the way it's gonna be, I'm removing my board from Forum Find. A Google search is much better than this, IMO.

It seems that the more changes that have been made over the last 2 years are just getting worse instead of better. I honestly don't think I can put up with anymore bad choices on the part of Yuku. The ads in the posts, the complicated payment system and now a stupid search engine. That's without the slowness, white pages, and server can't be found. It's just getting too much now. When one does a search though if we put Yuku after the tag word of a type of board we are looking for we can get up Yuku boards. But.... It also brings up a tremendous amount of profiles at the same time that one has to plough through to find a board. |

Searches now bring up links to nonyuku message boards. It's hard to believe yuku management intended this result.
I tried "tinnitus" to see whether the search would find my board. It did, among other boards, but at the right were nine Google ads for worthless tinnitus remedies, the kind we at the Tinnitus Support Message Board call "snake oil." Such products are the reason we've stayed Gold all these years. We don't want tinnitussupport92262.yuku.com to be associated with them. I realize that yuku won't change its search function to please my board, but I should think yuku might change it to avoid advertising its competitors. |

I'm especially not pleased with some of the material I'm seeing that's listed. Everything from breast and penis enhancements to pure porn. What on
earth is Yuku thinking? I've disabled the searchable feature in Forum Find for my board. I do NOT need this.

When I search for dyslexia I find everything except my board. Now how is that going to increase my site traffic? Somebody explain that to me please.

Yorkshire, they're probably discussing it or waiting till a U.S. business day. I posted more at the Lobby--it's a holiday here.
Another thing about the new Forum Find, categories seem randomly assigned to boards. Our tinnitus board has "Automotive" and other irrelevant words attached, but "Health," the category where it belongs, isn't there. |

I noticed that as well Reph. It's as if all the tag words we have put in our management settings are ignored as well as the category that we have chosen to
be in.

The labels change, too. Last night, our tinnitus board said "Automotive" and I don't remember what else--several labels that didn't fit.
Today, "Automotive" was off the list and "Gaming" was on. Okay, you can get tinnitus from gaming, if a casino is very loud and you
stay there too long, but most people don't, and that's probably not the kind of gaming they mean anyway.

Not only is Forum Find pulling all sorts of message boards and web sites from Google, it's also dredging up profiles from Yuku, MySpace, eHarmony,
about.com, etc.

But worse - I googled my old home address and post code in Cooden Beach in East Sussex and there my name was, --- (before Boo adopted me) and then I typed in details of my former parents and up came their details on the city council's Electoral Roll. OMG! It's all there - even where my parents went to after they split up AND my *** of an older sister! It was like my past had returned to smack me in the face. In a way I felt abused all over again. Now OK - I can find out all this on Google anyway. But no - I found my personal details on Yuku's forum search. Now isn't that insidious?
For the record of reporting this here I have copied and pasted some of my remarks from the Lobby: Well, I fully intend to remain with Yuku but I am not prepared to sit back and allow them to keep the google search lodged in where the forum search leads to those ghastly forums. There are sheafs of promises from Yuku staff, all talk but no "walk". This google-forum find search is disgusting! In closing I hope the boss of Yuku reads this - and reads it good! Mister - would you want YOUR children accessing your forum search and FINDING CHILD PORN? Huh? I vomited.
I hate Yuku now. "Hate" is not a word which I like using very much, I'm not the sort of person who actually hates anything. And as for my mum's board Hiding Place, we can't delete it to join another server because it will be very inconvenient for us and anyway I doubt our members would follow cos we'll have to set it all up again and our admins just haven't the time and neither have I. So we are stuck with your company Yuku. We have no confidence in you.

Lyra, are you sure you want your real name(s) there, and the town where you used to live, for all to see? Once personal information is on a board like this,
search engines will pick it up and preserve it forever.

I don't know how permanent this change is, we are still working on it.

I think this change is incredibly dumb. This basicly nukes the forum find option...all boards become "stand alone" boards this way. One of the
advantages of Yuku is...or was...the community search.
Maybe the Google $$$ are tempting, but when boards get more visitors because the forum find it also generates money. Short sighted. |

God, I'd give anything for them to bring back the original board search we had way back in 2006. I used to spend ages looking through the boards then. When
they changed it to incorporate the ezboards it became hard and boring to find a board one fancied.
And to this day I still don't know why they changed our settings to force us to add a 150 x 75 image in our settings for our board information as they only ever showed up so tiny in the forum find. So much in the beginning was far better than it ever is now. There is no doubt that adding this google search is to try and make more money but it's not going to make more money if people are so enraged that yet more will leave and take their boards and members with them. If Yuku want to have a strip of ads down the side of forum find I don't think any of us would complain but to have the actual search a google search is just mind boggling. |
