Using back button in your browser... |
Lead | ||
|
instead of using the breadcrumbs, I just usually hit back on my browser. Yuku used to take my back to where I was on the page. Now, it just loads at the very
top and does not take me back to where I was. Is anyone else experiencing that problem?

Firefox. It's not doing it for me.
Edit to say: I have IE6 and Firefox 2.0.0.14 at work and in IE it works but Firefox, it does not.

I'm using FF and it's happening to me also. I don't know when it stopped taking me back to where I was but I would say it's been about 2 weeks.

I've found it to be an off and on thing that affects Mozilla browsers. (I don't know about IE, but Safari and Opera have been fine.)
I've been reporting when I've found this broken and working again in the current issues thread, starting with reply #40. |

Since this is as long as I remember this issue persisting, I figured I ought to come back to this thread.
I'm experiencing this issue in Firefox 2.0.0.14, Camino 1.6.1, SeaMonkey 1.1.9, and Flock 1.1.4 (all Mozilla browsers). Opera 9.27 and Safari 3.1.1 work fine. I'm using OS X 10.5.2. EDIT: I just noticed that a reload also lands the page at the top in Firefox 2.0.0.14. I didn't test the other browsers.

I just tested in IE7, FF2.0.0.9 and SeaMonkey 1.1.9
Both SeaMonkey and FF take me to the top of the page, IE7 does not. You have a point here Casey, it seems to be happening in mozilla browsers. |

Apparently its a side effect of a fix for browser caching problems.

Is there any timetable for attending to this issue? Besides being inconvenient, it unnecessarily uses page views.

Curious of the answer as well.

I documented it, but unfortunately I can't tell you when they'll attend to it.

yes, our developers declared it not a bug as they could not reproduce it, and closed the issue.

They could not reproduce it in Firefox?? It happens to everyone who uses FF on our board.
And welcome back. |

I'm also an FF user (version 3) and the Back button does NOT take me back to my prior page.

It happens to me every single time I hit the back button in every Mozilla browser. The page does a full reload, and I have to scroll to find the place that I
was.

This is a very annoying problem for my users with FIrefox. Please reopen the issue and develop a fix. Thank you!

I echo the above sentiments. It is a very easy problem to reproduce, as I do it unintentionally every single time I hit the back button (Firefox 3.0.1).

I've not had this problem on any of my browsers on any of my OS's, (IE6, IE7, Opera 8.5 for Nintendo DS, Opera 9.0 for Wii, PSP browser, IE7 for
mobile), could it perhaps be a browser problem, in relation to the OS being used, (I use Windows XP Home Edition 2002 Service Pack 2, Windows Media Center
2002/2005 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit Service Pack 1, and I don't encounter this problem).
