I posted before in the topic which has now been closed - http://www.support.yuku.com/topic/7314 - bill773mini is having problems again and can't get in. Another user
garrett3 is having the same problem. I guess maybe other users may also be having problems but haven't contacted us, the board has been very quiet lately.

(rats, I didn't log back in to me! If garrett notices that he posted in this thread, that was my fault!)
I tested bill's account, and I got an error message, then I removed the daily posting/viewing limit from this profile and he was able to access it. Then I tested garrett's account, but I didn't get the error message at all. I removed his posting limit too just in case. Can you ask them to test if they have further problems accessing? I also notice that your board is registered users only. If this didn't fix it, I wonder if we can remove that setting for testing too. |

I am confused, daily posting/viewing limit? We have not limits set for any users, or not any that we have set.

no, you had them set, but set to 99999. So effectively no limits. I unchecked the boxes to totally disable them.

Is that a default Yuku setting then? We didn't have any limits on ezboard so I guess it's a migration thing? Does that mean we need to change the
limits for all our users in case that's why they're having problems?
The only reason for having no unregistered users set is to stop certain banned users reading the board - in the the hope that the email/IP address would stop them logging in. Not sure how removing that would help the testing, they would still have to log in to post? |

yes, it probably came over as part of the import. It was just something to try. There is otherwise no reason that I can see why they'd not have access, so
sometimes changing settings can manage to reset and fix the problem.

let us know if it happens again, ChrisW has done a lot of testing with this particular bug, and it seems that it can hit again on the same people.

It's happening to PLarsen again
I changed the 99999 limit the other day but he's just emailed me to say he still can't get in.

Peter, are you able to send private messages? Can you send me one?
Were you logged in as PLarsen when you posted reply #12 in this topic? Or were you logged in with a different account? |

We are still having massive problems with people not being able to login or see the board. We also appear to be having problems with people not being able to
register for a Yuku account. The answer to that seems to be to get them to register for a helpdesk account and submit a ticket, which seems absolutely stupid
if they can't even register for a yuku account in the first place. Alison suggested we allow non-registered users, but we're not sure how that would
help people who can't register or can't post??
I appreciate you try hard to help people who post here, but in my experience most of them who we advise to come here don't, or are shy to post, or, if they're new users, just can't be bothered and go elsewhere. Most of them don't bother to tell us, we maybe hear it from other people, so we don't even get an opportunity to tell them. So you helping people here is not helping us, the problems (bugs) need solving. And other types of boards don't have these problems, so why should people (who are mostly surfers rather than computer techies) want to know about cookies, creating helpdesk accounts etc. when they can find somewhere else to post? You said it's a long term bug, but didn't give me a link to any info (it's very hard finding your way around the support system here, where are the bug lists?) The board is quieter than it's ever been since the move to %%%#, it's not that our members aren't posting on forums, they've just all gone elsewhere, we've seen them! |

We are still having massive problems with people not being able to login or see the board. We also appear to be having problems with people not being able to register for a Yuku account. The answer to that seems to be to get them to register for a helpdesk account and submit a ticket, which seems absolutely stupid if they can't even register for a yuku account in the first place. They don't need to register a help desk account. When a person submits a ticket for the first time, a help desk account gets automatically created for them. You *can* register a help desk account but there is no need to do so since an account gets created upon submission of the first ticket. Once a ticket has been submitted (without having a help desk account) an email will be sent with the password to the help desk account. So you helping people here is not helping us, the problems (bugs) need solving. And other types of boards don't have these problemsBetween login problems and registration problems, I'd say that login problems are much more frequent than registration problems. They are not related to a bug though. Many, many of the login problems are caused by linked accounts moving over from ezboard. If people have linked accounts with different passwords, login problems can develop when one or more of those accounts migrate to yuku. It's only a matter of resetting the password. To be fair, registration and login problems occur everywhere, not just on yuku, and believe me, I've had my share! I won't mention any names in particular but I was once banned for security reasons from a certain site after I had tried to register an account over and over and over again in the same night. Tried with different browsers, different computers, nothing worked. I got so very frustrated that I lost all reason and kept trying. That wasn't ezboard or yuku, it was elsewhere. I recently registered somewhere and had to try 12 times before my registration went through. It does happen. I was under the impression the PLarsen was being plagued by the 401 unauthorized error, but looking at his latest post here, it seems to be an entirely different problem. I know that the 401 unauthorized is hitting at least one person on your community. At this time, there is no public documentation on this bug because we are still in the process of collecting information on what is triggering it. I can assure you that hours upon hours of research have gone into this and there is light at the end of the tunnel. I'd suggest to post a visible link to the help desk on your community and encourage people to submit a ticket should they run into a problem. |

We've had a link on our home page since the upgrade: http://www.specialistminiforums.com/ Plus an email
address to contact me, but hardly anyone has, as I say, people just don't bother and go elsewhere.
If you honestly think it will make a difference we will go to non-registered member viewing, but only as a last resort for security reasons. |

To be quite honest with you, there is only one person at your community who is plagued by the 401 unauthorized error. Feel free to give him my name to PM,
I'm almost always on line and can restore his access quickly should he lose it.
I don't think it would be necessary to change your security settings, especially if you feel comfortable with those settings. |
