cat fur changing colors |

Has anyone had any experience with a cat's fur turning yellow? Any idea what may cause this? Dietary maybe? Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks, |

What color was the fur originally and do you have other cats?

Did you mean to post this on the fabulousfelines board?
If people eat too many carrots, their skin turns yellow. That's all I know about diet and yellowing. |

I'm the owner of Fabulous Felines and Fidos. You
have posted your question in the general Support forum for Yuku instead of my board where you've signed up.
But in answer to your question, a cat's coat color is color pigments in the hairs. Solid colored areas on a cat are due to the hairs being the same color from the tip to the base. In general, the hair color of a cat pretty much stays consistent throughout the cat's life. By two years of age, the permanent coat color is well established. Occasionally, skin disorders resulting in excess secretions from the skin can stain the fur, although this is fairly uncommon. Please take your cat to your veterinarian to make sure things are okay with him/her.

Snik, I love your new avatar.
And now that I buttered you up , you know Cookie's situation, why did she stop grooming herself? Her fur
is all matted up and most of her white fur portions are now dirty-grey. Giving her a bath is out of question: she would scratch my eyes out.

Thank you, TL, and thanks for the buttering up. I need that this morning!
Older animals are much like older people - some start becoming slack in their grooming and hygiene habits as they age. Also, the skin changes - becomes oilier or drier depending on the animal - and our pets may need help in doing simple tasks, again much like our elderly folk. It sounds like Cookie's white fur is just soiled. Help her by brushing and combing. If this isn't suitable to her, a grooming glove is a wonderful alternative for cats that aren't used to regular brushing and combing by their guardian. Almost every cat I've ever known loves the grooming glove. (Don't start around the head - the bulky glove may frighten her - start at her hips and work toward the head.) Depending on the mats, you may have have to gently work the mats out with your fingers by starting at the skin line and working them out from base to top. Hope this helps.

The laughing kitten reminds me of my cat Zo... he's a happy cat... but loves sticking out his claws and then zipping them back in
Since I've started getting the baby belly going, Zo's been very cute about it all (less claws at me, he just sometimes gets so excitedly happy they pop right out!), he's been climbing up on my lap when I'm propped up on my pillows watching TV in bed, settling himself right where he can lay his head on my tummy and starts purring. I think he's purring for the baby. He's a very nurturing cat. (Yeah, I just hijacked the thread... back on point! Don't mind me!) |

Oh the orange kitty in the graphic looks just like him too
And thank you We're quite excited. Next week I go for my first ultrasound (Yes I want to know what were having. No surprises, I want to know if it's
a boy or girl so I can be prepared ) Last week my husband got to hear the baby's heartbeat, we recorded it to send to my mother. And the pets.. they
know, they're getting all protective of Mommy, as I said, especially Zo
