James had a genuine kindness about him. He had a way of talking that made you feel at ease, no matter what.
He always made time when his help was needed. He was a truly good person and I looked up to him a great deal.
Some of his last words to me were "no worries, the interface is confusing". The interface of that particular section was clear as water and he knew it, but it was just his typical way of making me feel less bad about messing something up. That was James all around.



Goodbye James, you will be missed enormously, and no doubt you'll remain forever in our hearts. My deepest sympathy goes to your wife, your family, and to all who are grieving over such a tragic and sudden loss. There aren't any words that can soothe the feeling of intense pain, I know.


I'd like to share my ballad for James here.


October ripped a hardy branch
off yuku's beaming crown,
a cruel twirl of destiny
pulled life and foliage down.

Dear James, we'll keep your words of past,
such reminiscent sparks-
we trust they'll colour weathered grooves
on ever damaged bark.

This tree will grow because you cared
for every sprouting leaf,
and tucked within its verdant layers
lies cheer alongside grief.

Your name remains on bough and bole,
on oak, on ash and fir-
embraced by splendid memories
we say goodbye, James Kerr.
